Pan-African Savings and Loans Ghana Invites Job Applications
A prestigious and quickly developing firm is looking for educated, confident, performance-oriented, and experienced workers to fill the role of Head of Credit.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Business and Financial Performance
- Increase the loan book of the institution and ensure profitability.
- Identifies, mitigates, and monitors risks within the credit function.
- Prepare a yearly budget for the department.
- Strive to meet the credit department’s earnings targets.
Client Centricity
- Conduct market research to identify new and feasible markets for lending.
People Management
- Monitor and manage the performance of all loans and overdrafts.
- Monitor and control credit officers’ performance to make suggestions to the Head of Human Resources.
- Initiate strategies for Credit Officer recruitment, training, and development in line with loan portfolio development, and provide recommendations to the Head of Human Resources.
Process, Control, and Operational Performance
- Review lending policies and procedures regularly and propose suitable improvement plans and strategies.
- Compiles, disseminates, and monitors the application of lending policies, procedures, and Bank of Ghana rules (particularly the classification and recovery of outstanding portfolio).
- Monitor the following:Evolution of the rate of loans in arrears
- Send weekly credit statistics and reports to the Managing Director.
- Submit quarterly lending performance reports to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.
- Develops and maintains a schedule for regular branch visits to evaluate loan performance.
- Monitors the use of the loan accounting system in all branches and ensures that loan account balances, commissions, and interest are correctly computed.
Strategic initiatives
Plan and conduct strategies for portfolio development and loan recovery.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Qualification
- MBA in finance, marketing, or a similar subject
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of postgraduate experience in credit operations for micro and small firms.
Personal Attributes
- Capacity for strategic thinking.
- Focused on outcomes
Skills
- Experience in management for a financial institution that serves the MSME and Micro Finance sectors.
- Understanding of how banks and/or non-bank financial institutions operate.
- Possess good written and oral communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
- Proficient at using Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (or comparable software);
- Basic analytical and statistical skills.
Competencies
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.
- Excellent connection management and solid presentation skills.
Must be versatile, imaginative, with strong analytical skills and solid judgment. - Requirements for this position include excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Capable of working under pressure and possessing exceptional planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong team player.
