Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship Application Guidelines
Initiated and financially supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) is a scholarship program that is handled by Nuffic in collaboration with Dutch institutions. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage the growth of capabilities, knowledge, and quality in higher and vocational education institutions as well as in the individuals who attend those institutions.
Scholarships provided by the Dutch government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are made available through the Orange Knowledge Programme for a variety of fields, including the following:
- Quick programs (ranging in length from two weeks to a year);
- A Master’s program that can last anywhere from 12 to 24 months.
The requirements for the Orange Knowledge Scholarship
This award offers financial assistance to female and male professionals who meet the following criteria:
- Applicants should be motivated;
- Residing and working in a country that is part of the OKP;
- Be able to communicate fluently in either English or French;
- Contributing to the development of their nation in one of its main areas;
- Are able to encourage the use of, and the transfer of their prior expertise and knowledge inside their employing business once they have completed their education;
- Expressing one’s assent to the obligations and conditions of the OKP
- You must have a command of the English or French language.
- It is required that research be conducted on the key topics of each country in the OKP.
- A statement from your company that demonstrates the support that they have for your application.
Selecting a candidate
The steps are as follows:
- Applicants register with their Dutch educational facility
- Dutch institution files grant applications and names candidates
- Embassies examine petitions and determine eligibility
- Available selection outcomes for Dutch educational institutions
- Grants are given by Dutch educational organizations
Three to four months after an application is submitted, the results are made public. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by the Dutch educational institution through whom you applied for the scholarship.
A Guide for Applications
Those who are interested in applying for the OKP Scholarship should do so by contacting an educational institution in the Netherlands of their choosing and following the steps specified in the following paragraphs:
- Determine whether or not your application fits inside the OKP target areas that have been established for your nation.
- Determine whether or not you qualify for the OKP by reviewing the requirements.
- Select a class from the available options on the OKP course list. Please locate a study by applying the filter ‘Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)’ to your search.
- Suggest to your company that they put you forward for an OKP scholarship and see if they are willing to do so.
- Make contact with the educational establishment in the Netherlands of your choosing in order to acquire additional information regarding the application process, the academic criteria, and the link to apply online.
- Prepare your application by gathering the following items: a statement from your company, your motivation, your passport, and a statement from the government (if applicable).
- During an application round, you can send your application online using the link that the Dutch educational school gives you. It is very important that you know when the application date is at the school you want to go to.
- Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Yemen, and Zambia citizens may apply for OKP scholarships.
Timelines for submitting applications
In order to be considered for a scholarship, applicants for the OKP Scholarship 2023/24 must submit their applications during one of the open application rounds. Applicants are required to verify the application cycle that is currently open at the time that they submit their application.
Application round deadlines
Only during an open application round is it possible to apply for a scholarship.
A second round of applications (Round 2) due in 2023:
- Applications must be submitted between 28 June and 5 September at 16.00 CET for courses beginning after 1 February 2024.
- With the exception of co-financed master’s programs, all short courses must be finished by the end of 2024 and all master’s programs by the end of 2025.

Please be aware that some educational institutions may have a shorter application deadline. The specific deadlines should be confirmed with your educational institution.
