Job Title: Learning Community Experience Specialist

Over 2,000 young leaders are enrolled in ALX’s programs to improve their skills, and this number is projected to grow by a large amount.

WHAT THE ROLE IS

ALX trains young people who are good at tech in our different programs and helps them build a strong group that helps them have life-changing experiences together. In 2023, ALX will switch from a completely online program to a “blended” program that combines online course material with learning in person and on-site. This includes help from other students, work done in groups, professional mentoring, and events. With this mixed method, students should be able to learn more and get along better with each other. In April 2023, ALX will open its own tech hubs in a number of places to make this happen.

The Learning Community Experience Specialist will be in charge of creating and putting into action a plan that will improve our blended learning program by designing and putting into action in-person learning and community-building experiences. He or she will be in charge of learning and community-building events, as well as leading by example in project management and promoting a culture of excellence. The Community Experience Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams like the Central Learning team to make sure that events are in line with the organization’s goals, manage budgets, and meet key performance indicators. The Learning Community Experience Specialist will be in charge of making a hybrid, interactive environment with measurable results. This person will answer directly to the General Manager.

Reponsibilities

The Learning Community Experience Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Experience design and execution: This job is in charge of making and putting into action a full strategy that gives students in-person learning and community experiences that help them stay in school. This means having goals and objectives for the community and making changes to the strategy over time so that it stays successful and relevant. The Learning Community Experience Specialist must stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and best practices, always look for new and innovative ways to improve the community experience, keep track of the changing needs and expectations of the community, and drive innovative experimentation to create an exceptional experience for members.
  • Metrics and Reporting: This job is in charge of making and using metrics to track and measure how well community engagement and retention projects are doing. This includes making sure that data collection and reporting practices are consistent, analyzing data to find trends and insights, presenting findings and recommendations to the leadership team, and constantly developing and refining performance indicators to make sure they accurately show the impact of community initiatives.
  • Event design and execution: This job is in charge of planning, running, and evaluating events that meet the needs of learners and fit with the tech hubs’ brand and culture. It involves coming up with ideas and plans for events, handling budgets, working with vendors, marketing, running events on-site, and building relationships with stakeholders. To stay relevant and successful, it’s important to keep up with industry trends and evaluate the success of events.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of work experience in any area. Project management, event activation and coordination, youth engagement, and community service experience are pluses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any area and a good record in school
  • Experience in making learning situations that are hands-on
  • English must be spoken and written with ease, and knowing other area languages is a plus.
  • Relationship-driven: Highly skilled speaker with a strong focus on customer service and a strong desire to always do what’s best for our customers
  • Attention to detail: make sure you give your customers the best service and follow up quickly on all the information they need.
  • You have great communication and speaking skills: you can express your ideas clearly and effectively both in writing and in person.
  • Interpersonal skills: you are willing to work with others and can do so well.
  • You are humble and willing to listen to feedback. You are always looking to learn and have a strong desire to grow.
  • Lastly, Innovativeness and creativity: you tend to use your imagination to create or introduce something new or different in any scenario.
