POSITION: Public Relations and Marketing Manager 

Supports the development and implementation of continuing media and community relations. Property owners receive crisis communication aid. Ensures that information to the public and community is displayed appropriately and efficiently, offering the best prospects for the company. Establishes an ongoing, focused media and community relations campaign.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Education & Experience

  • A two-year degree from an authorized university in Marketing, Business Administration, or a comparable subject, as well as two years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related professional field. OR
  • Marketing, Business Administration, or a comparable field requires a four-year degree from an authorized university; no prior experience is required.

Core work activities

Increasing Brand and Property Awareness to Boost Revenue

  • Collaborates with local, regional, and national resources to raise awareness and visibility for the property and restaurants.
  • Recruits new media outlets and travel media professionals.
  • Determines the greatest options for the property based on market conditions and property requirements.
  • Utilizes inventive selling skills to gain maximum exposure from travel writers and media outlets.
  • Increases awareness within the travel media community while also planning events to increase exposure and revenue in food outlets.
  • Supports the hotel’s social media initiatives, if any.
  • Collaborates with internet media channels to market the hotel.
  • Coordinates promotions and information for all publications and inserts related to brand loyalty incentive mailings.
  • Creates brochure and property collateral materials.
  • Participates in all property image projects (e.g. signs).
  • Ensures that the brand and property message is communicated consistently throughout all public relations and communications activities.

Building Successful Relationships.

  • Develops and strengthens ties with existing and emerging travel writers, as well as local media, to secure future exposure. Calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade events, and other activities are among the available options.
  • Develops relationships within the community in order to build and expand the client base, resulting in increased sales and revenue.
  • Conducts solicitation and maintenance calls to the media.
  • Identifies and engages with distribution channels that can sell distressed inventory and increase property occupancy.
  • Provides all communication channels with new and distinctive tools to help with the property’s public relations and communications.
  • Assists the property in creating promotions for various campaigns.

Coordinating Communication Efforts

  • Communicates accurately, completely, and effectively to visiting journalists, as well as for PR and marketing.
  • Assesses fresh public relations potential for the property.
  • Creates a strategic public relations plan for the resort, incorporating group, leisure, and local activities.
  • Assists with managing individual and group media visits.
  • Coordinates community service initiatives that align with the resort’s public image and needs.
  • Assists with creative print fulfillment; ensures that business branding guidelines and legal requirements are satisfied and included into material.
  • Supports hotel press releases and other information for print and digital media.

Providing Superior Customer Service

  • Provides an excellent model for guest interactions.
  • Interacts with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels; successfully reacts to and resolves guest issues and concerns.
  • Observes employee service habits and provides feedback to individuals and/or management; works continuously to enhance service performance.
  • Conducts site inspections for visiting media.

Additional responsibilities.

  • Maintains detailed files and records for all matters pertaining to the property’s public materials.
  • Ensures that the property follows all corporate public relations rules.
