POSITION: Reserve Account Manager
Context/Scope
The luxury spirits industry is expanding, mirroring global consumer trends toward buying less but of higher quality. With a general trend towards premiumisation and volume growth constraints in a mature market, premium brands are critical to unlocking future value growth for the organization.
Our premium spirits range represents a significant growth and profit opportunity for Diageo and our Reserve clients, with ambitious targets set for F20-25. There is a need to continue building market share through motivated and successful trade and marketing tactics.
Role Purpose
As a Reserve Account Manager in Premium and Luxury Spirits’ Key On-Trade area, you will be responsible for driving brand equity, sales growth, and brand status in targeted outlets. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering brand objectives. This position requires a multidimensional individual who is comfortable with flexible scheduling, including late-night events, as well as directing all elements of promotional activities and developing strong industry relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Developing Key Account Strategies:
- Create favorable relationships with high-end On-Trade outlets and influencers by leveraging your extensive market expertise and tailoring commercial plans for each account.
- Stay ahead of market trends, particularly in spirits and consumer preferences, and use that knowledge to impact decision-making.
- Understand ingredients, processes, and global cocktail trends to provide scalable solutions that drive brand success.
Relationship Management
- Develop genuine relationships with both external customers and internal team members, influencing win-win results and increasing brand loyalty.
- Proactively analyze market trends to alter plans, ensuring that brand and sales targets are met or exceeded.
Execution Excellence
- Implement brand strategies with a focus on increasing sales and brand awareness in important accounts.
- Even in ambiguity or uncertainty, demonstrate accountability and a problem-solving mindset.
- Maintain an optimistic attitude, always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
Top Three Functional Capabilities
- Industry Connectivity: A large network of premium On-Trade outlets, as well as a strong awareness of industry influencers and prospects.
- Category Knowledge: Expertise in spirits, including ingredients and procedures, as well as a preference for luxury brands that increase consumer interaction.
- Execution Excellence: Proven track record of driving commercial and brand strategies while maintaining a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a similar discipline.
- Proven track experience in sales or account management in the beverage, spirits, or FMCG industries.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills are required to successfully manage promotional efforts from strategy to implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of establishing and sustaining crucial partnerships.
- In-depth understanding of competition, distributors, and important consumer information.
- Work hours might be variable, including late nights and weekends.
- A passion for luxury goods and a strong desire to excel in the premium spirits industry.

- Inability to complete projects within given timeframes or adjust to flexible scheduling.
- Lack of motivation, subject expertise, or ineffective collaboration.
