POSITION: Driver/ Logistics Assistant

Job Description

ActionAid (AA) is a global movement of individuals working together to promote human rights for all and eradicate poverty.

ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an ActionAid affiliate, is looking to engage an experienced and self-motivated driver/logistic assistant.

Role Overview

The function ensures that staff and authorized personnel drive reliably and safely.  Additionally, it offers secretarial support to the office and is in charge of carrying and delivering/collecting mail, documents, and other goods as needed for AAG’s business.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport staff/guests to and from formal programmes.
• Transport AAG materials to suitable destinations.
• Conduct daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in excellent condition and report any defects to the Programme. Support staff to maintain the cleanliness of AAG vehicles.
• Update vehicle documents as needed.
• Maintain logbooks for AAG vehicles.
• Ensure the timely delivery and pickup of mail, documents, and other goods.
• Provide logistical support to the organization of official events.
• Ensures that the assigned vehicle is properly maintained daily by performing minor repairs on time, making arrangements for significant repairs, changing the oil on time, checking tires, brakes, and water levels, car washing, and so on so that it is always in good working condition.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is in good condition and used appropriately by vehicle users.
• Source and process office invoices for payment.

Required Skill or Experience

Academic Qualification and Experience

• A minimum of WASSCE and two years of experience. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
• Technical experience with defensive driving.
• Knowledge of Basic Computer Skills
• Understanding of road signs and traffic regulations
• Excellent understanding of protocol, security, and safety issues.

Personality

• Ability to use excellent judgment
• Requirements for this position include strong English communication, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, professional interpersonal skills, teamwork, and job-specific circumstances.
• This is a three-year renewable employment contract with national terms and conditions. The role requires regular travel within Ghana.

Monthly Base Salary: The position is at the entry-level of Class Two of AAG’s Non-Managerial (NM2) compensation structure.
