POSITION: Communication Officer

Company Profile

SEND GHANA, a policy research and advocacy organization, was established in 1998. SEND Ghana’s vision is “A Ghana where people’s rights and well-being are guaranteed,” and its objective is to promote good governance and gender equality in Ghana. It is based in Accra, with network offices in Tamale and Salaga.

The Objective of the Role

To enhance policy advocacy communication and promote SEND GHANA’s activities. This is an excellent chance if you are interested in development concerns, particularly in communicating policy research advocacy to a wider audience using many platforms such as policy papers, public events, traditional (TV, radio, print, electronic), and social media.

Duties and responsibilities

The Communication Officer oversees the overall planning, development, and organization of SEND GHANA’s communication and outreach operations. This encompasses, but is not limited to:

  • Planning, editing, and assisting with the publication of the Citizens Watch quarterly newsletter, success stories, policy briefs, and research reports.
  • Plan media information and communication materials.
  • Helping to create online content (website, newsletter, social media)
  • Serve as the program team’s media advisor.
  • Helping to plan, organize, and manage events to promote advocacy efforts.
  • Plan and carry out media connection building.
  • Strengthen media partnerships to optimize corporate goals.
  • Timely completion of annual reports

Required Skill or Experience

Professional Qualifications and Experience

A master’s degree in communication, project management, economics, development communication, or a related area, as will a bachelor’s degree with significant relevant expertise and experience (3-5 years minimum) in a comparable position.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Monitoring and assessment methods and procedures
  • Data Collection and Management
  • Analytic and research skills
  • Expertise in English report writing and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent computer expertise with mastery of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills for providing monitoring results

Other qualities:

  • Skills include effective teamwork, time management, and task prioritization.
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working without close supervision.
  • You must be willing to go to all project areas.
  • Must be willing to live and work in Tamale.
