POSITION: Head of Logistics

The Jumia platform is made up of three parts: a marketplace that links sellers and consumers, a logistics service that allows sellers to ship and deliver items to consumers, and a payment service called JumiaPay that provides a secure and simple way to execute online payment transactions. The company sells goods in a variety of categories, including phones and gadgets, home appliances, fast-moving consumer goods, fashion, and beauty.
What you will do:
- Creating a robust logistics footprint for PUS and DD organizations.
- Create a 3PL marketplace for PUS and DD services, standardize sorting centers and logistical infrastructure.
- Ensure cost-effective Last Mile and Middle Mile operations by contributing to technological advancements.
- Rebuilt truck capacity and optimised route logic.
- Team management entails supervising a group of employees in charge of dealing with defective items in the supply chain. This could include recruitment, training, scheduling, and team performance review.
- Defective Inventory Management: Ensuring that discovered defective products in the supply chain are effectively managed, including storage, tracking, and proper disposal under corporate policies and regulations.
- Trend Analysis: Monitoring and analyzing patterns connected to defective items to discover the root causes of quality issues and suggest continuous improvement strategies to prevent future events.
- Internal Communication: Effective communication with multiple supply chain teams and other relevant departments to coordinate defective item activities and ensure transparent information flow.
- Process Improvement: Identifying and executing process improvement opportunities to maximize defective item management while minimizing delays, costs, and inefficiencies.
What are we looking for?
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a similar discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in performance management, data analysis, or a similar discipline, ideally in a warehouse or supply chain setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data from diverse sources in order to find trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Proficiency in manipulating and visualizing data for reporting and analysis with data analysis tools and software such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex material to a variety of audiences and interact with cross-functional teams.
- Leadership and project management abilities, including the ability to spearhead initiatives, coordinate efforts, and drive results in a team setting.
- Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on correctness and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team. - Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet operational requirements.
