POSITION: Project Manager – FILMA

CRS’ relief and development work is carried out through programs in emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and peacebuilding.

Job Summary:

CRS has had major initiatives in Agriculture and Livelihoods, Health, WASH, Migration, Youth Development and Peace Building, Gender, and Financial Inclusion in Ghana since 1958. CRS is implementing various initiatives in these primary program areas. This new program supports initiatives in important agricultural value chain segments like poultry and fish farming, grains and cereals, and horticulture.

You will coordinate and report on all project operations and provide technical support and advice to staff and implementing partners to enhance Catholic Relief Services (CRS) work helping the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that your regional partners follow best practices and strive to improve their advantages to the people we serve.

You will manage, coordinate, and monitor project operations and relationships with consortium members, partners, and other project stakeholders to help Catholic Relief Services (CRS) help the poor and vulnerable. Your project management skills and program area experience will ensure the CP provides high-quality programming while improving the project’s impact. This position will report to the Director of Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Landscape and be based in Tamale, Ghana, with frequent travel to the Northern, Oti, and Bono East areas.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • You will oversee technical, budget management, monitoring, and reporting activities for the majority of the project cycle – start-up, implementation, and close-out – under CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and best practices.
  • Effective talent management and supervision. Manage team relationships and employee wellbeing. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual growth plans, help with project personnel recruiting, and oversee direct reports’ performance.
  • Ensure that learning is adequately integrated into project activities throughout the project lifecycle. Support accountability by managing project assessment activities under the MEAL Policy. Proactively identify and report issues to inform changes to plans and implementation timeframes.
  • Engage and strengthen project-related partnerships by implementing suitable partnership concepts, tools, and methodologies.
  • Coordinate operations required to provide adequate financial, material, and human resources for the project’s successful completion. Conduct frequent budget reviews and follow-ups with partners to ensure timely submission of financial reports, allowing for effective resource tracking.
  • Identify partner organizations’ staff capacity and technical assistance needs, and contribute to capacity building and required interventions to ensure quality project implementation.
  • Assist in the compilation of trend analysis reports and the dissemination of outcomes. Examine project documentation to ensure that it is complete with all necessary documentation and is submitted under agency and donor guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant project management expertise, particularly with major private funders, is advantageous.
  • Experience working on projects that promote the inclusion of women, youth, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Proven experience supervising staff.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders at all levels and building community partnerships.
  • The ability to contribute to the creation of technical suggestions is an advantage.
  • Experience analyzing data and writing evaluation reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and MS Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Language requirement: English proficiency.

Travel – You must be willing and able to travel up to 50%.

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in agriculture (economics, extension, and agribusiness), business administration, development finance, or entrepreneurship is necessary. A master’s degree in international relations or agriculture (economics, extension, agribusiness), business administration, development finance, or entrepreneurship would be beneficial.
  • A minimum of 7 years of project management experience, preferably in agriculture financing, savings and internal lending communities (SILC) or village savings and loan associations (VSLAs), agribusiness development, or for a non-governmental organization (NGO).
  • Additional experience may be used to replace some schooling.
