POSITION: ICT Consultant

General Purpose of the Position

The ICT Consultant will implement a comprehensive ICT training program for teachers in the Ellembelle District, Ghana, as part of the Quick Impact Project funded by ENI. The consultant will be present in Ellembelle District for two weeks (one in March and another in April) and will conduct a total of 9 training sessions: 5 sessions on Basic ICT and Office Suite Training and 4 sessions on Intensive ICT Integration for the Junior High School (JHS) Curriculum. The training aims to enhance teachers’ ICT competencies in line with the government’s curriculum.

The training will be provided to designated ICT Focal Points from 10 partner schools. It will cover Office suite applications, basic ICT skills, and coding topics such as algorithms and programming. Advanced Excel techniques will also be taught to improve technical skills, ultimately fostering a more engaging learning environment.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

Organize and Carry out the Training:

  •  Develop training materials aligned with the government’s educational curriculum.
  • Conduct Basic ICT and Office Suite Training (5 sessions) and Intensive ICT Integration for JHS (4 sessions).

Ensure Effective Delivery:

  •   Monitor progress to meet training objectives and provide hands-on support
  • Facilitate interactive activities to encourage practical application of ICT skills.

Evaluate Training Outcomes:

  • Assess effectiveness through feedback collection and evaluation methods.
  • Provide a final report on training outcomes, including strengths and areas for improvement.

This program aims to equip teachers with the necessary ICT skills to enhance their teaching methods.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Education, or a similar discipline.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in roles related to ICT, especially in areas such as training, capacity enhancement, and curriculum creation.

Professional Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated experience in providing ICT training programs, particularly within educational or community development contexts.
  • Experience in incorporating ICT into education and developing ICT curricula for teachers.
  • Knowledge of national educational programs, especially for Junior High School (JHS) and the integration of ICT.
  • Experience working in rural or disadvantaged areas and connecting with local populations.
  • Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with educational ICT tools and programming.
  • Excellent abilities in creating training materials, lesson plans, and resources for ICT education.
  • Familiarity with assessing and analyzing training effectiveness via data gathering and input.
  • Previous experience collaborating with Junior High School (JHS) educators and familiarity with the Ghanaian curriculum is preferred.

Languages 

  • English (superb speaking and writing skills)
  • Familiarity with the Nzema language is an advantage.
