Job Summary

The Project Manager is fully responsible for the implementation of projects across the group.

The project manager ensures that the project/changes are completed on time, within budget, and in sufficient quality to fulfill stakeholder expectations. All project/change delivery must adhere to the Absa change rules and methods.

  • Lead the project’s inception, planning, and technical feasibility.
  • Create a clear approach for tracking and monitoring the project’s progress.
  • Regular updates are provided to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.
  • Maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
  • You can track your project’s progress using the appropriate project management tools.
  • Reduce project risks by doing a risk management analysis.
  • Provide the required support to ensure that financed initiatives are properly managed and completed within schedule, cost, quality, and risk restrictions.
  • You must be open-minded, passionate, and have a manner of working that inspires others.
  • Must be devoted to completing work successfully and on schedule.

Job Description

Accountability: Project definition and planning (25%).

  • Evaluate the business need for change and build or assist in the creation of a business case.
  • Define, scope, and plan the project, and agree on its structure and deliverables.
  • Obtain proper project sponsor approval for the business case.
  • Prepare and agree on precise project/subproject tasks.
  • Agree on resource requirements with Business and IT Support.

Project and change delivery (50%).

  • Responsible for modest project management activities, either alone or with a small team (typically from the BAU line and seconded part-time to the project).
  • Comply with the Project Manager’s developed and maintained mechanisms to ensure project delivery.
  • Prepare a current and accurate forecast of costs, cash flow, timelines, and resource requirements and reach an agreement with the Project Steering Committee.
  • Identify all the items and tasks required to complete them. Prepare and maintain precise and accurate project and resource plans, including current activity completion estimations.
  • Prepare and agree on detailed project plans to achieve project deadlines and budgets.
  • Coordinate, review, and report project progress against plan, escalating issues as needed.
  • Follow the agreed-upon controls for resources, schedule, and quality.
  • Showcase effective stakeholder management (minimum engagement necessary).
  • Identify potential risks and concerns, as well as change and issue management methods, and provide suitable suggestions.
  • Ensure that business benefits are owned and delivered.
  • Manage project handover and completion.

Accountability: Stakeholder Management (25%).

  • Identify, analyze, and comprehend project stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Effective stakeholder management throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Regular verbal and written communication to explain the business case, get commitment and support, and update project progress to stakeholders.
  • Consultations with the Accountable Executive/Sponsor to report on project progress, escalate difficulties, etc.
  • Communication with other firms and other enablers to support the project as needed.

Education

National Diplomas and Advanced Certificates in Business, Commerce, and Management (Required)
