THE OPPORTUNITY
The Consultant, who reports to the Director of Finance Planning and Analysis, will assist the Programs Impact teams and partners in overseeing all financial aspects of program partnerships, such as due diligence, budgeting, controls, contracting, financial reporting, and analysis. The position will also serve as the enterprise’s key finance contact with Program Impact teams.
The successful candidate will work in one of our offices (Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, Rwanda, Ethiopia, or Ghana).
WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE
- Manage the whole Finance program partner contract cycle, which includes EOI, proposals, contract approvals, due diligence, budget reviews, program execution, and conclusion.
- Educate and teach external partners on budgeting, financial reporting, due diligence, and financial controls.
- Provide financial expertise and assistance to the Programs team in terms of strategy development and implementation, decision support, and value-for-money analysis.
- Maintain accurate financial paperwork, report on commitments, disbursements, and cash flow estimates, and ensure that grant systems are updated with accurate financial information on a timely basis.
- Monitor financial performance after kick-off to ensure that resources are utilized as planned and that adequate financing controls are in place to support program results.
- Consult with finance and accounting colleagues as needed to guarantee compliance with local and international financial rules, as well as proper business controls that protect foundation assets.
- Coordinate and oversee periodic partner reporting processes, ensuring contract compliance and action item closure.
- Troubleshoot financial concerns during program execution and conduct extensive partner capacity evaluations, recommending risk management solutions.
- Drive the annual due diligence assessment, assess partner financial statements and capacity, and keep financial review records.
- Manage analysts and interns, assign duties, and review results to assist with program financial chores.
- Identify opportunities for standardizing and improving finance procedures to increase efficiency.
- Ad hoc financial analysis and assistance with learning, assessment, and risk management operations.
Who Are You?
- A bachelor’s degree or complete accounting qualification is required.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in financial responsibilities within big and/or multinational organizations, preferably in the development sector.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A working grasp of Financial Internal Control Management.
- Financial reporting and analytical expertise, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Excellent problem-solving and persuasion skills.
- Able to detect and mitigate operational, financial, and business risks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
- Capable of creating normal accounting records and financial reporting, as well as determining and implementing appropriate accounting treatments.
- Excellent communicator (verbal, written, and presentation abilities) with the ability to convey knowledge to a wide range of stakeholders across cultures.
- Results-oriented and self-disciplined, with a strong sense of teamwork and a shared purpose to attain lofty goals.
- Flexible, adaptable, intellectually curious, accepting of ambiguity, open to new ideas, and eager to learn and develop.
- Have professional maturity, sensitivity to diverse cultures, and absolute honesty, which exemplify the Foundation’s principles.
