POSITION: Physician Assistant

A Role of Clinical Significance
The Physician Assistant position transcends routine clinical duties. You will work as an integral member of our medical team, providing health care while monitoring and evaluating patient outcomes. Your expertise will directly support our total healthcare delivery effort, ensuring patients receive optimum care through collaboration with other disciplines and healthcare staff. Core Responsibilities
Your daily activities will encompass four primary areas of focus:
Clinical Care:
- Assess and prioritize patients presenting at the hospital according to their medical needs
- Undertake confidential patient consultations including history taking, assessment, and diagnosis
- Initiate and implement comprehensive care plans for patients
- Record patients’ care and management packages accurately and legibly
- Assist in providing interventions and emergency therapies
- Perform emergency surgical invasive procedures when required
- Assist in minor surgical procedures including incision of boils and suturing of wounds
- Participate actively in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and morbidity or mortality meetings
- Offer primary care to patients with mental health problems and refer appropriately
- Perform relieving duties at Health Centers and relevant health facilities when necessary
Community Engagement:
- Participate in outreach community health activities within the catchment area
- Facilitate community involvement in health programmes
- Contribute to maternal and child welfare, family planning programmes, and health education talks
- Assist in collecting and reporting data on socio-epidemiological morbidity and mortality
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain effective communication with colleagues, professional groups, and clients
- Participate in disseminating health programme information to staff and clients
- Attend multi-professional meetings and conferences as required
- Promote and safeguard patient and visitor interests and wellbeing at all times
Professional Development and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain continuing personal and professional development
- Monitor own performance against agreed objectives and standards
- Keep log of performance and in-service training for appraisal purposes
- Undertake surveys and research responsibilities
- Comply with all health and safety requirements and quality assurance policies
- Act as a role model in quality improvement while offering advice and support to others
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Licensing Requirements: Candidates must hold a valid license from the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana. This certification confirms your professional standing and commitment to maintaining practice standards.
- Core Competencies Required: Willingness to work flexible hours remains essential for meeting patient needs. The ability to work excellently under pressure ensures effective performance during demanding situations. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills enable productive collaboration with patients, families, and colleagues. Strong clinical assessment capabilities support accurate diagnosis and care planning.
