POSITION: Communications Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

The Communications Manager is in charge of creating and implementing a complete communications strategy for the project, promoting its goals, and disseminating information to key stakeholders. This includes handling media relations, creating and disseminating communication materials, and managing the Activity’s social media presence.

The Communications Manager will set up meetings, document best practices, and communicate lessons learned. S/he will report to the Chief of Party and collaborate with the Deputy Chief of Party, Civil Society and Media Engagement Specialist, SBC Expert, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager to create a detailed communication plan for the activity.

The Communications Manager will act as the FASA liaison with USAID, ensuring that FASA communications materials, social media content, and related communications information are in accordance with USAID branding and marking standards and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a plan for project communication, outreach, and knowledge management.
  • Engage with local and national media and use social media to create awareness about fiscal accountability and publicize product launch events and sites.
  • Collaborate with technical experts to plan meetings, document best practices and methodology, and share findings with partners and other donor projects.
  • Aggregate information from District Coordinators for quarterly and annual reports, and create pamphlets, brochures, and films to promote FASA’s accomplishments.
  • Provide input for biweekly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as project success stories, as needed.
  • Create activity updates, mailings, and performance reports as needed.
  • Create appealing information about FASA project activities, such as success stories and project outcomes, to be published on the FASA project website.
  • Keep up to date on USAID’s branding and marking requirements, and make sure that the project’s communications materials adhere to USAID guidelines and manual advice.
  • Provide inputs for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed.

Required Skill or Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a similar discipline, plus at least 9 years of relevant job experience. Master’s degrees are preferable.
  • Demonstrated Five years of expertise in communication, outreach, public relations, and knowledge management.
  • Experience working on donor-funded programs that strengthen governance systems is preferred. Prior experience with USAID programs in a similar function is preferred.
  • Experience creating communications and outreach strategies, especially using social media platforms such as Facebook, X, and Instagram.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and reading skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
