POSITION: Driver (Operations Support)
TEAM OBJECTIVE:
The Logistics and Admin Team is part of the larger business systems and operations team, tasked with overseeing the provision of professional services in finance, administration, logistics, and IT management, offering proactive and people-focused solutions to address challenges. This entails making certain that the operational needs of business services are efficiently managed to achieve organizational outcomes, which aim at enhancing the capacity and skills of partner organizations to empower Oxfam in Ghana to fulfill the Country Strategy.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The position involves assisting the country office with transportation needs. Prompt upkeep of office vehicles and guaranteeing an updated monthly report on the status of all the office vehicles. Accountable for overseeing the inventory related to fuel and lubricants.
The purpose of the following is to offer a clear understanding of the nature and extent of the Operations Support – Driver position:
- Execute specific responsibilities assigned by managers or supervisors.
- Tasks are standard but might necessitate the application of some initiative and/or simple planning.
- To ensure the appropriate handling of the vehicle that is directly supervised.
- Perform tasks while respecting health and safety standards and guidelines.
- The effect is on the personal team/process.
MAIN DUTIES
- Transport all personnel on official visits both within and outside Accra whenever feasible.
- Assist the Office Assistant with administrative tasks – such as going to the Post Office, handling utility bills, and making different payments, etc.
- Transporting company guests from the Airport to their accommodations (or other locations) and back – when necessary.
- Care of company vehicles:
- Maintaining their cleanliness.
- Timely maintenance to guarantee they remain in excellent condition at all times.
- Properly completing and analyzing log-books as part of the monthly financial reporting process.
- Verifying the appropriate levels of fuel, water, lubricants, etc. as required.
- Staff the front desk when the Administrative and Office Assistants are unavailable.
- Help with banking tasks when needed.
- Execution of additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor or management.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
Essential
- Fundamental educational background coupled with technical training related to vehicle maintenance, along with at least 3 years of outstanding driving experience.
- Exhibit robust defensive skills while performing duties.
- Skill in writing clearly and communicating efficiently in English.
- Capability to suggest locations for purchasing spare parts. Monitor and develop templates for logbooks and monthly reports.
- Demonstrate a degree of initiative and motivation.
- Capable of adhering to guidance.
- Robust feeling of individual accountability.
- Capability to travel long distances by vehicle.
Desirable
- Background in a comparable role with a development organization
- A high level of working proficiency in both French and Ghanaian languages is very preferable.
