POSITION: Assistant Banquet Manager

Your Mission

You will assist in managing a service team within the banquet outlet, working in close cooperation with the culinary team. Your focus will center on delivering a courteous, professional, and efficient service that aligns with outlet, hotel, and Kempinski standards. Additionally, you will drive sales, maximize profit, and set an example for your team through punctuality, professional appearance, and unwavering commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans team leadership, operational excellence, financial management, and guest relations. Here is what you will tackle:

Leadership & Team Management

  • You will take responsibility for Banquet Supervisors, Waiters, and Waitresses, guiding them toward exceptional performance.
  • Setting an example by reporting to duty punctually while wearing business attire according to the hotel’s dress code and Kempinski grooming standards maintains high standards of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Assigning responsibilities to subordinates through a multi tasking principle and checking their performance periodically builds a capable, flexible team.

Financial & Operational Management

  • You will assist in leading the outlet efficiently in costs and expenses, constantly delivering the highest quality while driving high top line revenue and profit.
  • Understanding the monthly profit and loss statement of the department gives you financial insight.
  • Producing reports and analysis of the outlet and attending monthly performance meetings keeps management informed.

Guest Service & Problem Resolution

  • You will provide a professional and courteous service at all times, ensuring that all employees of the assigned outlet follow your example.
  • Handling guest enquiries and complaints in a courteous and efficient manner, then reporting to the Head of Department or Assistant Head of Department, ensures proper follow up with the guest.
  • Performing upselling for all items offered by the department as well as offering alternatives increases revenue and enhances guest satisfaction.

Training & Communication

  • Understanding thoroughly the concept of the outlet and assuming training responsibilities as requested by the Banquet Manager builds team capability.
  • Assisting in communication within the outlet and attending daily or weekly outlet meetings with the Culinary Team fosters teamwork and constant development.
  • Attending and contributing to necessary staff meetings, departmental trainings, and hotel initiated trainings keeps your skills sharp.

Operational Procedures & Systems

  • Ensuring that the place of work and surrounding areas stay clean and organized at all times reflects your professionalism.
  • Knowing how to operate the existing POS system based on your trained responsibility level ensures smooth transactions.
  • Planning daily routine checklists and station divisions according to the work schedule keeps operations running efficiently.
  • Ensuring that opening and closing procedures established for the outlet are followed maintains consistency.

Acting Roles & Special Duties

  • Acting as a Manager on duty in the absence of the Banquet Manager demonstrates your readiness for greater responsibility.
  • Acting as Food & Beverage Duty Manager during the absence of the Food & Beverage Head of Department and Assistant Head of Department shows your versatility.
  • Conducting all outlet meetings in the absence of the Banquet Manager keeps the team aligned.
  • Attending all daily or weekly Food & Beverage Meetings in the absence of the Banquet Manager ensures continuity.

Inventory & Supplier Relations

  • Assisting in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment prevents shortages.
  • Supporting activities and cooperation with suppliers strengthens our vendor relationships.
  • Coordinating the review of the outlet’s operations manual updates annually as requested by the Banquet Manager keeps documentation current.

Reporting & Discipline

  • Reporting incidents that require disciplinary actions immediately to the Banquet Manager ensures timely resolution.
  • Undertaking reasonable tasks and secondary duties as appointed by the Head of Department demonstrates your flexibility.
  • Then, responding to any changes in the department as dictated by hotel management shows your adaptability.

What You Bring to the Role

We are looking for a candidate with the right education, experience, skills, and personal attributes. Here is what you need:

Education & Experience

  • A BA or BSc in Hospitality Management or a related field, preferably from a hotel school.
  • Five years of experience with a minimum of one year in an F&B management role, preferably in banquet operations.
