OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Country Office Support Units have been established in the organizational structure to assist Managers and staff in fully assuming their responsibilities in the GSM environment, as well as to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations on all administrative and financial matters and transactions conducted within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Within the CSU unit, the Operations Support and Logistics team oversees a pool of WHO vehicles and other modes of transportation, guaranteeing efficient resource utilization and managing field trips to locations around the country.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Drive office cars to transport authorized individuals, deliver and collect mail, documents, and other materials;
- Meet authorized persons at the airport, and facilitate immigration and customs processes as needed.
- Ensures that all relevant documentation and supplies, such as vehicle insurance, vehicle records, an office directory, a first aid kit, and spare parts, are available in the assigned vehicle.
- Ensures that the assigned vehicle is properly maintained daily by doing minor repairs on time, making plans for significant maintenance, changing the oil on time, checking the tires and brakes, washing the car, and so on.
- Performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, frequent service, and maintenance to keep the vehicle clean and mission-ready.
- Logs official trips, daily mileage, petrol consumption, oil changes, greasing, and so on, and fills out the Monthly Vehicle Data Form at the end of each month.
- Ensures that the procedures necessary by the laws and regulations are taken in the event of an accident.
- Perform additional relevant responsibilities as required or instructed, including supporting other areas of work as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Needed
Education
Completion of secondary education or equivalent training is required, as is a valid driving license.
Desirable: Basic mechanical certificate and first aid training would be beneficial.
Experience
- Requirements: At least four years of driving experience; a clean and safe driving record.
- Desirable: Experience driving for WHO or another UN organization is a benefit. Experience with Oracle-based or other ERP systems is an asset.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in the working language. Knowledge of the country’s driving norms and regulations
- Minor vehicle repair skills.
- The capacity to produce a brief and official report on happenings.
- Understanding of driving norms and regulations, chauffeur procedure and etiquette, and local roads and circumstances.
- Ability to evaluate vehicles’ mechanical fitness and do modest vehicle repairs.
- Ability to work as a team.

REMUNERATION
WHO provides an attractive remuneration plan to workers in the General Services category, which for the above post includes an annual net base salary beginning at GHS 95,903 (subject to required deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
