The work of KHRC has consequences for health policy and practice in Ghana, Africa, and around the world. KHRC is located in the heart of Ghana and provides national and international research and training services, with a multidisciplinary team.
Job Description
Qualified persons are requested to apply for the position of Project Manager at the Kintampo Health Research Centre in Kintampo, Bono-East Region.
- Job Type: Full-time contract.
- Duration: one year (renewable).
Brief Job Description
This role is in charge of developing, implementing, and overseeing research initiatives. Plans and executes research initiatives, which include coordinating the formulation of project scope, goals, work plans, timetables, and tactics, and reviewing progress toward project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Project management for awarded projects and contracts
- Provide day-to-day high-level support to the PI, aiding with the adoption of rigorous program management processes and protocols that adhere to best practices.
- Deliver project events such as research cooperation meetings, road-mapping workshops, and seminars, as well as manage suitable advertising, with meeting minutes taken and circulated.
- Monitor project progress, track finances, compile reports, and collaborate with researchers and sponsors for updates, necessary revisions, and periodic reporting.
- Routinely review risks, challenges, and progress, taking actions as appropriate to guarantee the least impact on program deadlines.
- Maintain current records that allow effective monitoring, management, and assessment of assigned program operations.
- Coordinate the delivery of good project governance by supporting the management of advisory board meetings, as well as required scientific and stakeholder workshops and summits, as needed.
- Collaborate and resolve challenges for a diverse research community, including sponsors and other stakeholders.
- Communicate successfully with a varied audience by holding team meetings and giving formal presentations.
- Proposal development: collaborate with a variety of researchers to discover potential funding sources and generate high-quality proposals.
- Locate funding opportunities and streamline the pre-award process.
- Facilitate training for various need-based research training programs.
- Occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences, and/or training sessions.
- The project manager will coordinate and support multidisciplinary teams of researchers.
Required Skill or Experience
- MSc project management.
Experience
- 5 years of professional experience, or comparable applicable experience
- Experience with proposal development, including adherence to sponsor criteria and solicitation requirements.
- Experience creating and monitoring budgets
- Experience with funded project administration.
- Managing multidisciplinary research initiatives with external and internal collaborators.
- Knowledge of and experience with technical writing and presentation development.
- Experience with research funding agencies.
- Experience in organizing events and meetings.
- Understanding of data management and analysis tools.
- Understanding of and capacity to apply sponsor, national, and institutional policies, regulations, guidelines, practices, and processes to research funding.
- Understanding of software applications, particularly project management tools.
