POSITION: Finance Officer

The Ghana Anti-corruption Coalition (GACC) is a group made up of public, private, and community organizations. Their main goal is to fight corruption in Ghana and create effective ways to control it. GACC wants to help reduce poverty by working with its members and other important partners.

They aspire to see a Ghana without corruption, where honesty, transparency, accountability, and integrity are valued. The Coalition conducts research and monitors laws related to anti-corruption. They also provide assessments to help shape policies and promote education about transparency and accountability among citizens, advocating for good governance.

Job Description

GACC is looking to hire a Finance Officer. This person will be part of the finance team, handling daily operations in GACC’s accounting department. They will ensure that accounting information is processed accurately and securely and that reports are prepared on time, including those related to donor-funded projects, following established rules and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Finance Officer will have several responsibilities, including reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Administration. Their tasks include:

  • Assisting the Head of Finance to ensure timely implementation and reporting of all finance and administrative activities as per GACC’s annual work plan.
  • Processing payments, and ensuring approved cheques are paid to the right vendors or payees.
  • Making sure all documents for paid cheques and cash are complete and properly scanned.
  • Entering data into the QuickBooks Accounting System and reconciling the general ledgers with cash book balances.
  • Checking all program advance retirements and supporting documents.
  • Preparing monthly reconciliation statements for approval by the 15th of the next month.
  • Updating cash books weekly and preparing a detailed monthly expense schedule. – Checking inventory and store documents every month.
  • Supervising stock checks every three months.
  • Conducting annual appraisals with the Line Manager by December 15.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Executive Secretary as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications, Experience, and Competence

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • Level II qualification from a recognized professional body (like ICA Ghana, ACCA, or CIMA) is a plus.
  • Candidates must have completed National Service.
  • 3–5 years of work experience, ideally with knowledge of donor-funded projects, especially with GIZ.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Knowledge of financial management and tax laws.
  • Familiarity with IT applications, such as Microsoft Office, and accounting software like QuickBooks.
  • Strong attention to detail and high ethical standards.

Employment Type: This is a full-time position, with the contract renewable every year based on good performance.
