POSITION: Motor Rewinding Technician
AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited’s Obuasi Gold Mine is nearing completion of its reconstruction phase to become a modern, efficient, and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation is completely mechanized and designed to mine up to 5,000 tonnes of ore per day on average.
We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated person to join our committed team, as described below:

ROLE PURPOSE
The Motor Rewinding Technician reports to the Electrical Supervisor – Surface and is responsible for minewide low and medium-voltage rotating machinery overhaul and maintenance, motor rewinding, and Big Drive Motor Annual Maintenance, all in a safe and compliant way.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Comply with Ghanaian government agencies, environmental, health, and safety legislation, and AGAG regulations.
- Take personal responsibility for one’s own and other mine workers’ health and safety.
- Follow the site’s environmental management plan.
- Comply with operating procedures and environmental rules while performing the specified job.
- Must remedy or report to their supervisor any noticed environmental deviations, practices, or conditions, as well as provide recommendations to enhance any part of environmental management.
- Communicate with contractors as directed and/or construction teams on electrical work duties for refurbishment and planned works that complement the overall work plan, schedule, and expectations.
- Attend training, development, and performance improvement training as needed.
- Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked, consistent with all necessary requirements from the Government of Ghana and AGAG.
- Perform daily pre-start checks of equipment and tools before leaving the workshop. Escalate and report any irregularities.
- Evaluate equipment needed for tasks, develop checklists, and transfer tools.
- Report and escalate any irregularities in machine, equipment, or crane operation that may require maintenance.
- Provide data and information to assist the Maintenance Planner in closing out work orders in SAP upon completion of the assigned tasks for all process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective work completion.
- Operate all equipment in a safe working environment.
- Stop equipment operation if it poses a high danger or is unsafe to use.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of an Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate Part I.
Experience
- Three (3) years of post-apprenticeship experience in the electric motor rewinding trade.
- Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation.
Technical Competencies
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Expertise in electrical trades
- Knowledge of crane safety operations
