POSITION: Sales Manager
Job Profile
- As part of the company’s local sales team, the Sales Manager will be in charge of:
- Managed dynamic sales teams and commercial operations to drive corporate growth and exceed targets.
- Implementing sales techniques and technologies to maintain agency revenue growth and profitability.
- Preparing and monitoring sales goals and targets, assisting with business negotiations, team performance, and training program monitoring
- Ensures pricing consistency, accuracy, and timely reports.
The Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying new business prospects, retaining and expanding the customer base, cultivating relationships, and driving revenue development under our company’s mission and principles. This role demands strong leadership abilities, great communication skills, and a track record of meeting business development objectives.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify new customers and engage with both new and existing clients to expand your customer base.
- Conduct daily sales calls for existing and prospective customers, ensuring timely entry of sales reports and a targeted action plan with the assistance of internal stakeholders.
- Chase and drive possibilities into prospects that will be closely monitored for a highly profitable customer mix.
- Drive continuous improvement and initiatives by developing and maintaining long-term relationships with active and inactive customers to support business development and enhance customer experience.
- Monitor and enhance customer performance through periodic reviews with sales teams and direct managers.
- Identify cost-saving methods (internal/external) that will increase revenue for the organization through targeted actions.
- Manage sales quotes, agreements, and service requests from clients in collaboration with the customer care team (accuracy, filing time, timely feedback, etc.).
- Collect and analyze information on market trends and developments, including new measures that may have an impact on business growth, and generate management reports.
- Monitor and resolve conflicts including outstanding demurrage, undelivered shipments, and so on.
- Develop ways to improve customer service operations and promote timely cargo delivery and the UCL/debt collection system.
- Lead and supervise the local sales team in delivering business solutions and required outcomes to ensure client satisfaction and business success.
- Maintain and develop a steady and optimal mix of customer portfolios and cargoes based on profitability targets, volume targets, and commodity seasonality to ensure customer retention.
- Support trade and other relevant stakeholders with commercial plans and actions, and provide timely reports on market developments, market intelligence, freight levels, and other issues.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in business administration, transportation and logistics, or any other related field.
- Between 6 and 10 years of prior experience in a similar job.
- Excellent relationship management, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Motivated to develop and enhance sales volume/revenue while providing excellent customer care.
- Good knowledge of the Ghana shipping market.
- Business acumen, logical attitude, and keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Chinese, French, and other international languages will be an added benefit.
