POSITION: IT Onsite Support Engineer

Key Purpose Statement
The main job of the IT Onsite Support Engineer is to give technical help with IT issues in the company. This role makes sure that all IT systems and end-user devices work smoothly. The engineer also ensures that the company follows IT standards, legal rules, and cybersecurity policies. They are responsible for setting up, maintaining, and improving IT systems and services that help the business run well.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and set up computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
- Help staff or clients with system setups or problems, either in person or remotely.
- Troubleshoot and fix system and network issues by identifying hardware or software problems.
- Replace hardware parts when needed.
- Provide support, including writing guides and reports.
- Follow processes to repair issues or set up systems.
- Assist with the launch of new applications and help new users set up accounts or solve password issues.
- Respond to requests for help within agreed time limits.
- Continue working on tasks until completed or escalate to higher support when needed.
- Manage multiple ongoing cases according to incident management protocols.
- Build strong relationships with users, other support teams, and vendors.
- Test and assess new technology to ensure it works well with existing systems.
- Keep computer rooms tidy and compliant with IT standards.
- Test devices and ensure backup systems are working, coordinating with maintenance teams as necessary.
Skills and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or at least an HND in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in IT support or networking are a plus.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in IT support roles, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and IT systems.
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software.
- Knowledge of IT service agreements and incident management processes.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, such as routers, switches, servers, and user devices.
- Good communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization.
- Analytical skills to solve problems proactively.
- Ability to document processes, create reports, and maintain IT standards.
- Understanding of IT security and compliance principles.
