POSITION: Purchasing Manager

The general responsibility of this position is to organize and oversee all aspects of the Purchasing, Receiving, and Storeroom Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for adhering to and comprehending all Kempinski policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional and harmonious demeanor and adhering to the Kempinski code of conduct.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with business partners.
  • Responsible for staying up to date on the latest trends and products.
  • Responsible for working with the Chef to secure the best items and pricing available; daily assessment of market list and offers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that competitive bidding is conducted and that contracts are granted fairly and ethically.
  • Responsible for monitoring slow-moving and dead goods, as well as maintaining stock levels in line with operating requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all deliveries and issues are properly documented and processed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all departments communicate with one another about issues that may have an impact on the business.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all spaces are secure, orderly, and clean.
  • Responsible for supervising, training, and encouraging the purchasing department workforce.
  • Responsible for employment, disciplinary actions, evaluations, scheduling, and so on.
  • Responsible for carrying out any additional activities assigned by the controller and aiding in other departments of finance as required.
  • Responsible for contacting the Financial Controller about any discrepancies or potential issues.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • 2+ years as a hotel purchasing manager.
  • 5+ years in various hotel purchasing jobs
  • Requirements: – 4+ years of experience as a buying manager – Ability to work and communicate in a multinational workplace – Additional language skills preferred
  • Capable of handling large volumes and paying attention to detail, as well as managing changing priorities and many activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with hotel staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Maintains a professional, confidential, and ethical approach at all times.
  • Effective cost analysis and management skills
  • Works in a safe, prudent, and structured way.
  • Ability to operate computer and mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word is required, and experience with related software is advantageous.
  • Understanding of food handling, quality assurance, and local legislation
