POSITION: Database Geologist

Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) is a subsidiary of Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., which is listed on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. CNML is developing its core asset in Ghana’s Upper East Region with the strategic aim of creating a world-leading, highly lucrative, and responsible gold mining operation.

Job Description.

• Location: Bolgatanga Mine
• Site: Geology
• Department: Minerals and Resource Management.
• Reports to: Senior Geologist
• Direct Reports: None.

Job Purpose

The Database A geologist will manage and compile data to keep geological and mining databases for resource estimation, grade control, and mining operations. The incumbent will be a system administrator in responsibility of creating and implementing database interfaces for the company’s Log Chief and Datashed software, which are data gathering and management solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Compile and manage geological exploration and production databases.
• Understands and supports MaxGeo’s solutions and software products.
• Create complicated queries, triggers, and store operations.
• Data validation, import, and export for exploration data.
• Monitor and report on exploration findings and noteworthy intercepts.
• Generate weekly and monthly QA/QC data, assay analysis, and reports.
• Periodically examine and update geological databases to ensure their integrity.
• Ensure that the database rules and validations are still valid and performing as intended, and that the essential database rules can function efficiently.
• Communicate with database software clients and the IT department.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor in accordance with the needs of the company.

Required Skill or Experience

Minimum Qualification(s)

• A bachelor’s degree in geoscience, or its equivalent.
• Membership in AUSIMM, AIG, SAIMM, or WAIMM and relevant industrial experience are required.
• 5 years of experience, including 3 years in a similar job in the gold processing or related industry.
• A minimum of three years of T-SQL experience is required, as well as a demonstrated ability to develop solutions to complex data problems.

Knowledge

• SQL and Visual Basic software abilities are desirable.
• Good understanding of management information systems.
• Exposure to automated data collection.
• Sound understanding of risk management and loss prevention procedures.
• Excellent presentation, organization, and communication abilities.
• Knowing how to use Micromine, Datamine, or Leapfrog Geo will be advantageous.

Skills

• Highly computer savvy in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft Office
• Experience with geological database systems (GBIS, aQuire, Datashed) and SharePoint
• 2010 is required. Knowledge of acQuire, Maxgeo, or Datashed is preferred.
• Proactive and dynamic individual who enjoys challenges and can work well in a team atmosphere.
• Skill in implementing protocols or methods to ensure that the validated master database cannot be updated (intentionally or maliciously).
• Appropriate and dependable quality assurance and control processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting abilities.
