POSITION: Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist III

This job specialist collects high-quality data at the national office level for all child-related data. She or he provides extensive monitoring and evaluation skills for program data, allowing them to conduct analyses, spot patterns, write reports, and make suggestions based on results. The specialist also has extensive experience collecting, measuring, and analyzing data for program plans, outputs, and results.

Furthermore, this specialist may advise leaders in the National or Regional Offices, as well as Global Leaders, on these topics and other technical concerns. At this career level, the incumbent contributes to local program design by working independently or as part of a team on important or complicated challenges, such as monitoring and evaluating all programs supported by child support, grants, interventions, or other sources. He or she may coach or direct the work of other specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains personal contact with Jesus Christ. Is a continuous witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a gracious, Christ-like attitude when interacting with individuals both inside and outside of Compassion, and faithfully prays for Compassion’s ministry.
  • Acts as an advocate to increase awareness of children’s needs. Understands Christ’s command to safeguard children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection in all ministry decisions, tasks, and activities. Meets all the behavioral expectations outlined in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns about child abuse, neglect, or exploitation through Compassion’s internal reporting mechanism, and provides appropriate assistance for responses to situations that occur.
  • Supports overall holistic child development and provides continuing subject knowledge in gathering, advising on, and using high-quality data to assess program inputs, outputs, and results.
  • Creates national or global level tools and instruments for use throughout the monitoring function, allowing the program team to undertake empirical assessments and track progress through the creation of monitoring and evaluation reports. Analyzes high-quality baseline/needs assessment data to help guide program design.
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert in terms of partner compliance and adherence to national or global program quality standards, processes, and policies, with a focus on data gathering for children, churches, and interventions.
  • Collaborates with partnership facilitators, national, regional, or global program support team members, and leaders to provide insight and expertise on intervention milestone implementation, financial report status, child development milestone monitoring, partner maturity progress, and other programmatic aspects.
  • Monitors all child-focused dashboards to track essential program dimensions and performance, allowing the National Office to identify significant gains or declines in performance.
  • Is in charge of budgeting and planning for all data collection, monitoring, and evaluation operations in the national office and/or assigned region. This includes teaching Frontline Church Partner staff, Partnership Facilitators, and external data collectors on how to collect high-quality data.
  • Drawing on field experience and exposure, advise program managers, field office personnel, and leadership on pertinent programmatic challenges as needed, and participate in or lead multi-departmental projects, creative thinking, and analysis teams.
  • May coach and provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in the monitoring and evaluation field.
  • Faith involves a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Compassion’s basic “Cultural Behaviors” must be supported and upheld in all communication and relationships, whether internal or external.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Seven years of relevant experience in this or a similar sector.
  • Licenses and certifications: A national or internationally recognized organization’s certification in a connected field.
  • Equivalent education, training, and/or certification may be substituted for the experience and education listed above.
  • Working Environment: Standard Office Environment

Physical Demands

  • Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours daily
  • Travel requirements: May be necessary to travel up to 25% of the typical schedule.
