POSITION: Program Specialist
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a Japanese incorporated administrative agency that administers Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) to developing countries. For more than 60 years, JICA has worked with Ghana on programs and projects in the health, education, agricultural, business, infrastructure, and governance sectors.
The JICA Ghana Office is now looking for the following qualified and experienced individuals: Program Manager
Position
Program Specialist in Private Sector Development and Related Sectors (e.g., Enterprise Business Development (particularly for SMEs), Start-up Ecosystem Development, Investment Promotion, Industrial Development, Trade, Economy, Business Related Law, Public-Private Partnership, etc.) One (1) individual
Position Description
- Develop proposals based on talks and negotiations with government officials, development partners, and other stakeholders.
- To carry out or assist in the carrying out of JICA projects with office members, JICA headquarters personnel, specialists, and government officials involved.
- To support JICA missions and specialists in the relevant sector and allied sectors by making different arrangements and logistical operations such as performing procurement, preparing official documents, building internal procedures, and arranging travel arrangements, among other things.
- Maintaining regular contact with office members, Japanese specialists, Ghanaian government officials’ colleagues, and Development partners involved.
- Gather, analyze, summarize, evaluate, and report information and policies from the responsible sector and its connected sectors to office members by attending relevant meetings and preparing summaries, minutes, reports, and so on.
- Gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and evaluating material from mass media and disseminating summaries to designated stakeholders.
- Understand, analyze, and report on macroeconomic trends that may affect Ghana’s fiscal condition and JICA’s activities and programs through data collection and reporting.
- Participate in the drafting of the private sector section of the JCAP by providing input based on facts and information gathered.
- To carry out and help in the review of JICA’s projects and other operations in accordance with JICA’s procedures by working with office members, government officials, and Development partners involved.
- Monitor the activity of former KCCP participants and provide a strategy for dispatching fresh applicants while keeping the present initiatives in mind.
- Create and double-check accounting documentation.
- To raise awareness of JICA’s Public Relations initiatives and activities among Ghanaians and the media.
- Under the supervision of Representatives and Project Formulation Advisors, perform other essential tasks that are not limited to the private sector.
Employment Duration
- A period of one (1) year (A six-month probationary period beginning on the day of hire)
- Renewable based on satisfactory performance
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Economics, Sociology, or other Social Sciences
- Appropriate and suitable business attitude, discipline, good interpersonal skills, and cultural awareness.
- Teamwork experience and excellent interpersonal skills are required to form and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, superiors, and external counterparts.
- Excellent PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for producing business/official documents, letters, and reports, as well as presentations.
- At least 5 (five) years of work experience in related areas (e.g., Enterprise Business Development (especially SMEs), Start-up Ecosystem Development, Investment Promotion, Industrial Development, Trade, Economy, Business Related Law, Public-Private Partnership,)
Qualifications and Experiences
- Work experience in the above-mentioned fields within government organizations, donor organizations, and/or international private companies/organizations
- An international bachelor’s or master’s degree in commerce, economics, sociology, or other social sciences.
