Internship at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
ROLE: UNFPA Ghana Intern
Background:
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) aims to create a world where every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person can realize their full potential. To support this vision, UNFPA Ghana is offering an internship program designed to provide motivated students and recent graduates, including individuals with disabilities, the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting, fostering their growth and development.
Qualifications Required:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree program and have completed at least one academic year; or
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a master’s or higher); or
- Have recently graduated with a relevant university degree, with the condition that the internship begins within one year of graduation; or
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee program and include the internship as a component of that program.
How You Can Make a Difference:
UNFPA is the leading UN agency focused on ensuring every pregnancy is desired, every childbirth is safe, and young people’s potential is fulfilled. Its strategic plan for 2022-2025 targets three transformative outcomes: ending preventable maternal deaths, addressing unmet family planning needs, and eliminating gender-based violence and harmful practices.
These goals align with the International Conference on Population and Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the need to “build forward better” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on women’s and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health services.
Disclaimer
UNFPA seeks principled and ethical staff who inspire change, drive significant outcomes, and manage resources transparently. The recruitment process may include background checks and medical clearance. UNFPA does not charge application fees or request bank information. Candidates with permanent residency in a country other than their nationality may need to relinquish that status upon appointment.
