POSITION: Sewing Specialist (4 Positions)

Introduction

Inspire Her Ghana aims to empower girls and women through education, skill development, and community involvement. We are looking for a competent Sewing Specialist to join our team and help us achieve our aim of offering high-quality sewing services and training to our members and beneficiaries.

• Job Title: Sewing Specialist
• Location: Inspire Her Ghana, Taifa
• Duration: Contract Reporting to Administrative Officer.

Purpose of the role

The Sewing Specialist will be in charge of producing high-quality clothing and accessories, teaching employees in sewing techniques, and contributing to the overall success of our production unit. This position involves knowledge of numerous sewing techniques, attention to precision, and the ability to collaborate with other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Production:

• Sewing high-quality, reusable sanitary pads and accessories following product specifications and schedules.
• Ensure that all goods fulfill quality requirements and customer expectations.
• Meet weekly and monthly production targets.
• Maintain and troubleshoot sewing machines and equipment as necessary.

Training and Mentoring:

• Provide recipients and another seamstress with hands-on product-making training and coaching.
• Create and implement sewing seminars and skill development sessions.
• Evaluate members’ skill levels and offer personalized instruction to help them improve their sewing ability.

Quality control:

• Inspect finished items for flaws and ensure they satisfy quality specifications.
• Implement quality control measures to reduce errors and maintain consistency.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

• Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to the ongoing improvement of manufacturing procedures.
• Contribute to community outreach programs and events as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience as a seamstress, tailor, or sewing specialist.
• Proficiency with various sewing machines and equipment.
• Solid understanding of various fabrics, patterns, and stitching procedures.
• Exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• The ability to teach and coach others.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to operate both alone and collaboratively.
