Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: You will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including comprehensive income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensuring strict compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations is essential to maintain transparency and credibility in our financial practices. This task requires a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of financial reporting norms.
- Accounts Payable: In this role, you will efficiently manage the accounts payable process, ensuring that all invoices are processed accurately and paid promptly. This includes reconciling statements, addressing and resolving discrepancies proactively, and maintaining organized and accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.
- Accounts Receivable: You will play a critical role in managing our accounts receivable by invoicing customers and closely monitoring payments received. This involves following up on overdue payments, resolving any billing disputes, reconciling all bank accounts, and ensuring meticulous records of all accounts receivable transactions are kept.
- General Ledger Accounting: Your duties will also include maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. Additionally, you will assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date for audit purposes.
- Budget Management: You will be involved in preparing the annual budgets by collaborating with various departments. Monitoring performance through variance analyses will be critical to identifying areas for improvement and ensuring that we meet our financial goals.
- Special Projects: As assigned by the Executive Director, you may also participate in special projects that contribute to the overall strategic objectives of the organization. Your insights and financial expertise will help in steering these initiatives toward success.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is mandatory. This educational background equips you with the fundamental knowledge necessary for the role.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting position is required, allowing you to bring practical knowledge and an understanding of various financial processes.
- A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices is essential for navigating the complexities of financial management in our organization.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero, is vital. Familiarity with other accounting tools will be considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are key. You should be able to interpret financial data, identify trends, and recommend solutions to enhance our financial performance.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is non-negotiable, as the role requires handling significant financial information where precision is critical.
- Candidates who are partly or fully qualified with ICAG (Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) will have a competitive advantage.
