FSWP vs. FSTP: Which Canadian Immigration Program is Right for You

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) are Canada’s two most well-known immigration programs. Both programs, together with the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), are part of the Express Entry system.

Federal Skills Trade Program (FSTP) Requirements

Whereas in the Federal Skills Trade Program (FSTP), the requirements are as follows:

• You should plan to live anywhere in Canada except Quebec.
• You must meet the required level of linguistic proficiency in either English or French.
• Before applying for Express Entry, you must have two years of full-time or comparable part-time experience in the previous five years.
• You must meet the employment requirements as specified in the NOC.
• You must have a full-time job offer for at least one year.

As a candidate, you must demonstrate that you precisely executed the obligations listed in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) list in your employment. If you fail to show the obligations and experience for the job you conducted as specified in the NOC, your immigration application will be denied.
