Finance Officer at Absa
Summary of Job:
- Lead the making of management accounts, performance reports, and business review packs.
- Help with the daily, weekly, and quarterly process of reconciliation
- Offer help with money and analysis.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation, process improvement and efficiencies. For example, a subsidized interest rate to offset some of the amount of the grant
- Lastly, Improve the quality of financial and management information and analysis on your own.
Responsibilities
Performance Reporting – Time Split – 35% of the Time
- Help put together and send in monthly management and financial accounts.
- Give senior management sound commentary on all report decks.
- Reconciliation of the Project’s monthly payments on time and correctly.
- Help get the Absa Young Africa Works Project reports and comments ready and sent in every month.
- Manage the reporting schedule by making and keeping track of a dashboard for reports that is sent to the Absa Young Africa Works project and country.
- Manage the answers to all questions about how actual performance compares to what was planned for in terms of cost, assets, etc.
- Make sure that all reports have the same structure and layout.
- Coordinate with the business and take charge of all parts of the key process for both
- Actual reporting and the budget.
Planning & Analysis- Time Split – 35%
- Help people make Short-Term and Medium-Term Plans.
- Make sure that business plans and strategies are sent in on time and are correct, according to the Absa Young Africa Works project schedule.
- Maintain a teamwork/collaborative relationship with key stakeholders (like Risk, Treasury, Business Partners, Financial Control, and donor agencies) to make it easier to plan and solve problems on time.
- Review cost and income lines, talk to Financial Control to make sure results are aligned, and share insights to make better decisions.
- Always look at financial results and assumptions for forecasts, and share insights and trends with the Absa Young Africa Works project and business.
- Provide reports on performance and trends when they are needed.
- Coordinate and collect information from Absa Young Africa Works project and business teams for routine and ad hoc requests, such as quarterly and half-yearly comments, forecast and actual performance reviews, etc.
Reconciliation -Time Split -15%
- Find and suggest ways to improve processes and systems to make the planning and reporting cycle work better
- Make sure that the project and business numbers for Absa Young Africa Works are always in sync and that all mapping problems are fixed.
- Set up a system or process to handle subsidized interest on the amount of the grant.
- Provide ongoing training on all major changes to the financial and management reporting policies for the Absa Young Africa Works project Team Management / Personal
Development. – 15%
- Give help with certain tasks.
- Develop new analytical skills and work on your own growth to be more effective on the job.
- Keep up with what’s going on in the banking industry, including factors and trends in both the small and large economies.
- Keep up with the strategies and policies of the MasterCard Foundation.
- Take responsibility for your own growth and the growth of your team members.
Education:
Business, Commerce, and Management Studies is part of the Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) (Required)
