POSITION: Senior Program Officer
About the Position
The Senior Program Officer (Financial Sustainability) will oversee the execution of initiatives within component 3, “Investing for the Future”, of the Mondelez Cocoa Cooperative Organizational Strengthening Program (CCOSP). He/she will facilitate initiatives (via coaching, practical training, and various types of technical assistance) to aid nine cocoa cooperatives (unions) in strategically leveraging investments to improve their sustainability and effectiveness for members in the long run.
The individual in this role will assist the unions in identifying available resources or credit and establish collaborations with market, finance, and non-finance entities to guarantee access to adequate funds, markets, and services that fulfill the requirements of the unions and their members.
TASKS & OBLIGATIONS
Main responsibilities encompass:
Execution
- Spearheaded the execution of component 3 “Investing for the Future” within the CCOSP.
- Create and uphold a robust collaborative relationship with the unions, various Cocoa Life Implementing Partners, and pertinent government agencies and departments. This ought to involve consistent communication to guarantee they are completely and suitably engaged in the project.
- Raise awareness among union boards and members regarding financial sustainability and investment.
- Assist the unions in developing business plans for key investment projects, working together with chosen private sector partners and financial institutions.
- Offer technical assistance to the unions and aid them in improving their internal controls, financial management systems, and procedures.
- Enhance the unions’ capacity (by employing farmer-friendly methods such as coaching) to guarantee efficient financial management at both the union and society levels.
- Offer daily technical assistance to the unions for the successful execution of their strategic, business, and financial sustainability initiatives.
Required Skills or Background
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, agriculture, social sciences, or a related discipline.
- A master’s degree in finance/accounting and experience with producer organizations is a beneficial advantage.
Other Specialist Qualification (Desired)
- Alternative Specialist certification (Preferred)
- Fiscal Administration
- Development of market and partnerships
- Familiarity and comprehension of the Fairtrade system
Minimum Years of Relevant Experience
- Least Number of Pertinent Years of Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in implementing projects in a comparable setting.
Knowledge of Systems and Procedures
- Experience in facilitating ethical and sustainable supply chains
- Understanding of agricultural growth and eco-friendly business methods
- Familiarity and comprehension of Fairtrade criteria
- Subject matter understanding and proficiency in FTA’s key focus areas
- Expertise in monitoring and evaluating programs and projects
- Capacity to foster innovation and education.
- Skills in presentation, training, and facilitation
Competency

- Outstanding communication and reporting abilities (fluent in Twi)
