POSITION: Social & Behavior Change Officer, NOB

Job Overview

The Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) team focuses on understanding social and cultural factors that influence behaviour. They develop strategies to promote better practices in areas like health, education, and hygiene. The SBC Officer will help design and evaluate these programs and work closely with other specialists.

Main Responsibilities/obligations:

  • Create and employ research, data, and evidence from behavioral science to guide the design, assessment, and oversight of SBC programs and results in both developmental and crisis situations, while also strengthening the evidence foundation for SBC.
  • Facilitate the implementation of SBC by promoting it, coordinating among stakeholders, sectors, and teams, and building partnerships.
  • Encourage ongoing education, enhancing and expanding SBC in both development and humanitarian settings by building capacity for UNICEF personnel and partners.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: A university degree (bachelor’s or higher) in one of these areas is mandatory: social science, marketing, market research, sociology, anthropology, communication, psychology, or another pertinent field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in one or more of the following domains is needed: social and behaviour change, communication, marketing, or another relevant area.
  • Experience in the following fields is beneficial: social and/or behavioural sciences, market research, marketing, or other relevant areas.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and a minimum of one local language is necessary.
  • Desirable qualities: Experience in a developing country and/or knowledge of emergencies.
