JOB PURPOSE
This function is responsible for establishing and implementing effective business and marketing strategies to drive long-term financial success in the University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd’s three (3) sub-business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect for potential/new clients and engage existing clients to establish a strong clientele base by managing their needs/expectations.
- Create a growth strategy that focuses on both financial gains for the Centre and customer pleasure.
- Set up meetings with clients and decision-makers, and contribute to the Centre’s pricing strategy.
- Lead the Business Development and Marketing teams in developing proposals that are suited to the needs, issues, and objectives of the clients.
- Conduct market research to determine new markets and client demands.
- Also, Promote UGMC’s services to the international market, with a particular emphasis on the West African subregion.
- Serve as a product development specialist in our specific field, maintaining technical and product knowledge through close collaboration with all departments.
- Maintain a great interest in relevant markets and stay up to speed on comprehensive economic, technological, and organizational information to capitalize on commercial prospects.
- Examine the dangers and potential business possibilities.
- Maintaining confidentiality helps to protect UGMC’s core values.
- Create a strong social media presence and provide simple access to current information on UGMC’s services and activities.
- Liaise with the Centre’s Directors to establish marketing strategies for our services.

Educational qualifications and experience
The essential requirements
- Requirements include a Master’s degree in Administration, Marketing, Business Development, or a similar discipline, as well as at least 13 years of relevant professional experience, five of which must be in a managerial position.
- Demonstrates leadership and ongoing professional development, including marketing and business development training.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing service developments.
- Expertise in policy and standard development
- Research experience.
- Proficiency in report writing.
Desirable
- Membership in a recognized professional management body, such as CIMA.
- PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Networking experience.
