POSITION: Deputy General Manager
Job Purpose
Tasked with recognizing growth opportunities for exploration and production in line with PetroSA’s policies, procedures, and regulatory mandates to guarantee optimal production and reserve recovery within the country. Develop and sustain relationships with joint venture partners, government bodies, and local staff to ensure compliance with regulations while aligning with the company’s business development goals and Ghana’s local laws.
Job Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement strategic plans to enhance PetrosA Ghana’s business development (upstream and/or downstream), taking into account the regulatory environment of the country and region that aligns with PetroSA Ghana, to ensure the achievement of PetroSA Ghana’s goals, ultimately fulfilling the shareholder’s objective.
- Oversee the implementation of new asset portfolio management tasks, which involve assessing and pinpointing business risks, including environmental and social/political risks.
- Oversee and track the discovery of new business leads/opportunities, initial assessments, and due diligence on new prospects to assess their potential economic feasibility and offer recommendations to senior management/shareholders concerning the organization’s future direction in relation to new business development opportunities aimed at meeting business development objectives.
- Create and implement the stakeholder strategy to build and uphold the relationship (e.g., Government Officials, country managers (joint venture partners) of other producing assets) to ensure that the perception of PetroSA Ghana as a professional organization with a strong level of integrity is enhanced and sustained.
- Oversee administrative operations to ensure the Country’s office operates efficiently and effectively, adhering to South African and Ghanaian laws and PetroSA governance, including policies, procedures, and PFMA.
- Create budgets for specific assets/opportunities along with their corresponding exploration/development rights and technical cooperation permits, monitor spending against these budgets, and take corrective measures to ensure effective portfolio planning and management.
- Involvement in the legal business meetings to gain a thorough understanding of the current operations.
Requirements for Qualification & Experience
- Advanced Degree in Business Management / Commerce / Engineering / Sciences
- MBA beneficial
Experience
- A decade of commercial/technical expertise in the Oil and Gas sector (particularly in Upstream)
- 5 years in Business Development, Managing Stakeholders, and 3 years in a Senior Management role in Ghana.
- A demonstrated history of successful stakeholder management, business development primarily in the upstream and midstream sectors, and maintaining sales in the oil and gas industry is essential.
- Skilled in Ghana’s legal framework and knowledgeable about the country’s Oil and Gas Licensing rounds.
