Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., which is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE). CNML is working to improve its main asset, which is in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The company’s long-term goal is to build a world-leading, highly valuable, and responsible gold mining enterprise of a world-class level.

Job Purpose

This job makes sure that CNML’s environmental plan is carried out in the field. It also helps the project meet the requirements of the Environmental Management systems and drives environmental initiatives in the workplace (in the field) while making sure that laws about the environment are followed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Give the Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) Project Team and contractor teams on-site environmental advice that is proactive and done by professionals.
• Make sure that the Cardinal Project Team and Contractors follow environmental laws. This includes making sure that improvement actions are carried out according to requirements, are tracked, and are constantly evaluated.
• Help create environmental policies, procedures, and programs that are good for the environment.
• Watch how the project’s environmental management plan and related procedures are put into action. This includes making sure that field monitoring is done to set a baseline for the project’s level of pollution or contamination.
• Help auditing measures and do specific auditing and inspections for the environment.
• Oversee waste management plans, like those at CNML landfills, as well as the transportation of waste to make sure it is done well and doesn’t pollute the air, land, or water.
• Coordinate with outside labs for the delivery of environmental samples and follow up on data quality issues; interpret data and write detailed environmental reports.
• Make sure that the site follows the recommendations for biodiversity and that protected species are not hurt.
• Do any other related tasks that the Supervisor gives you based on the needs of the company.

Minimum qualification (s)

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, natural resources, engineering, biological or natural sciences, or a related field.
• A certificate of competence from the Minerals Commission for the HSE Officer is a must.
• Relevant professional certification, such as NEBOSH International General Certificate
• At least seven years of experience in the mining, manufacturing, or mine construction industries.
