POSITION: Electrical Technician

Galiano Gold Inc. is a mining company listed on both NYSE and TSX, concentrating on exploration, development, and operational activities. Its subsidiary, Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd, operates a multi-pit mining facility on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, which includes a 5.5Mtpa processing plant that has room for expansion.
Position Summary
Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is looking to hire a highly motivated and seasoned Electrical Technician to become part of the team. The chosen applicant will aid in the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems, enhancing operational performance while ensuring adherence to safety regulations and organizational standards.
Purpose of the Job
The Electrical Technician will handle the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment to guarantee their safe and efficient functioning.
Main Duties
- Put together, install, test, and upkeep electrical or electronic wiring, devices, appliances, equipment, and fixtures.
- Examine electrical systems, devices, and parts, determine the necessity for repair or adjustment, and verify adherence to regulations.
- Fix or substitute wiring, devices, and fittings, utilizing suitable hand and power tools.
- Implement electrical wiring schemes for efficient lighting, intercom, and various electrical systems.
- Set up safety and distribution elements (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit breaker panels).
- Link wiring in electrical circuits and networks, making sure components are compatible.
- Avoid equipment malfunctions by regularly examining, cleaning, and verifying circuit terminations.
- Carry out efficient diagnostic procedures to detect risks or failures and fix or replace defective components.
- Carries out daily tasks in accordance with policies and procedures, following established guidelines.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the supervisor in line with Asanko policies.

Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or NVTI Certification in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or mining setting.
- A valid license from the Ghana Energy Commission (EL1/EL2) is required.
Key Competencies
- Understanding of both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing issues, setting up, and servicing electrical devices.
- Knowledge of PLC, VSDs, and electrical control systems.
- Adherence to electrical safety standards and regulations.
