DV 2025 Required Education & Work Experience
Are you of the opinion you meet the 2025 Diversity Visa Program’s educational or professional experience requirements? We will go over the specifics of the educational or professional experience criteria in this article.
Although there are fewer qualifying restrictions for the diversity visa program than for many other US immigrant visas or green cards, this does not mean that anyone can apply, even if they are from one of the countries listed as eligible. To receive a green card through the Visa Lottery, you must also possess the skills necessary to find employment in the US after your name is drawn.
To do it, you must present proof of either;
- A minimum of two years of experience within the last five years, a high school diploma, or the completion of a 12-year course in elementary and secondary education
- Similarly, you can present a position requiring at least two years of training

Before submitting a lottery entry, confirm that you meet the aforementioned requirements for employability. Tell us if you have any more work experience. Your Visa or Green Card application will be rejected, and you will be liable for any filing fees and associated costs if you are ineligible to participate in the DV Lottery but enter anyway and win. Apply only if you believe you are eligible; otherwise, you will waste both your time and your money.
When do DV lottery winners have to provide the US government with evidence of their education and experience?
You do not need to have this documentation on hand when you apply for the DV Lottery. These documents must be shown during the Visa or Green Card interview for applicants whose names were drawn in the lottery. The US consulate in your country of residence is where this will most likely happen, though if you are already lawfully present in the US and choose to apply through the “adjustment of status” process, it will happen at a USCIS office.
Consider carefully what you are or are not willing to permanently give up to a US government official’s file while you prepare your documents. You might make a copy of your high school diploma but also bring the original so the USCIS consular representative can examine it.
You may send the original letter from your employer confirming that you have been employed for at least two years during the past five years, but you should also make a copy for your records.
