CIP Application Process of Saint Lucia here

Saint Lucia is attractive to investors since it processes applications quickly. The average processing time for 2021/202 was 75 days, far below the 90-day standard. However, the CIP Board has approved more employees and ordered the Unit to complete eligible applications in 50 days without collecting extra processing fees. This attracts applicants to CIP Saint Lucia.

To fulfill turnaround deadlines, the CIP Board must collaborate with third parties to minimize processing time by roughly 50%. In-house training expanded capacity, and a paperless system will make this easier by eliminating delays in delivering process-critical papers.

The CIP Unit received many citizenship petitions in April–July 2021. The Citizenship by Investment Unit immediately improved the IT base to support the program and all citizenship applications. Also, The IT Department improved the citizenship application portal, server specifications, server hardware, and IT platform overall.

The Unit processed citizenship-by-investment applications from approved international and marketing agents using the following methods.

1. Receipt of the application for citizenship

All requests for citizenship come in both paper and digital formats. CIP Saint Lucia has a special online site where applications for citizenship can be processed.

2. Document Verification

They make sure that every applicant sends in the necessary forms and papers so that the application can be processed.  The Verification Department makes sure that all applications are fully and follow all CIP rules and laws.

3. Due Diligence

Due Diligence is still one of the most important parts of how the Citizenship by Investment Programme works. Moreover, Due research is done in a strong and thorough way by the Citizenship by Investment Unit. Before getting an application for citizenship, the partner agents check out the applicants using KYC (know your client) and other online tracking systems to make sure they are a good fit for the Saint Lucia program. Also, when an application for citizenship is checked and approved, the Citizenship by Investment Unit works closely with local law enforcement, regional intelligence partners, and foreign firms that are not part of the government.

Due research at CIP Saint Lucia is done in three steps, and this is the same for all applicants.

  • Know Your Client, or KYC, is an online database.
  • Local Law Enforcement (RSLPF) and Regional Border Control
  • 3rd Party – International Due Diligence Firms

The Due Diligence (DD) Department makes sure that every applicant over the age of 16 is “who he says he is” by vetting and doing due diligence on every candidate.

4. Review of the application and suggestion

Once the team is satisfied with what they have found out about a person and they have enough information about the applicant to make an informed choice, they will make a decision. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) makes a suggestion to the Board of Directors about whether or not to accept an application for citizenship.

5. Decision on Citizenship

The Board of Directors looks over the application and the results of the applicant’s due diligence. After that, a final choice is made about whether or not an application is approved. In some cases, the Board may “delay for cause” an application while they look for more information. Once the Board has made a choice that everyone agrees on, the applicants are told the status of their application: grant, deny, or delay for cause.

Grant Decision

The Applicant is told what’s going on with his or her application. Before a person can get Saint Lucian citizenship, they must meet all of the standards. So, the candidate has to make their case.

  • Qualifying Investment: one of the four ways to put your money to work.
  • Sign the Oath or Affirmation of Allegiance to Saint Lucia and;
  • Pay any processing fees

Once the individual has done all of the above. The person is then given a “Citizenship Certificate,” which is also called a “Certificate of Registration.” As a citizen of Saint Lucia, you have the same rights and responsibilities as any other person. The citizen can apply for a national insurance number, passport, and national ID through the right ruling bodies with the help of a proxy or local agent.

Denied

The applicant is told how his or her application is doing and why it was turned down, as required by the law. This is the end of the process for the Unit, the Board, and the person who wants to become a citizen. The applicant doesn’t have to make a purchase or do anything else.

Delayed for Cause

The Applicant is told what’s going on with his or her application, and the Applicant is asked to provide clarification and/or information through additional paperwork so that the Unit and Board can think about it more and make a final decision. Once the applicant has given the information asked for and both the Unit and the Board are happy with the request, the Board makes the final choice on whether or not to grant citizenship.
