About the Fellowship

CEES builds interdisciplinary scholarship on Eastern Europe and post-Soviet Eurasia. Fellows join an active academic community throughout their four-month residency. Each fellow presents a workshop on their specific research topic. Findings get published through one of CEES’s own outlets.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a stipend covering living expenses during their stay. Travel and administrative costs in Switzerland are also covered. CEES provides workspace, library access, and housing search assistance. The interdisciplinary community adds mentorship beyond formal funding alone.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must currently be enrolled or employed at their home university. Any nationality may apply, though regional scholars receive some preference. Young and mid-career researchers in social sciences or humanities qualify. This cycle particularly welcomes South Caucasus-focused research proposals.
