Mission
To offer mechanical and electrical technical support to workshop task operations by assessing risks, disassembling, evaluating, reporting, assembling, and testing all assigned servicing and repair for both surface and underground machines/components.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
SHEQ
- Comply with the tasks delegated or assigned by your immediate management.
- Ensure that hazards in the work area are identified on a daily basis.
- Demonstrate effective performance in meeting established SHEQ targets to support the workshop.
- Always perform a risk assessment prior to any rebuild service.
- Promote and standardize the spilled oil kit.
- Raising awareness and adhering to site standards and procedures in SHEQ. Use the IA portal.
- Proper use of the allocated personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in SHEQ training actively.
- Take part in developing the Job Safety and Environment Analysis (JSEA).
- Take responsibility for the safety of all staff, including yourself, in the workshop.
People Leadership
- Provide first-line technical and mentoring support to workshop technicians.
- Focus on support service repair activities to eliminate performance impediments.
- Instruct new members about the safe use of the work area, equipment, tools, and instruments.
- Provide technical support and actively train maintenance professionals.
- Improve the machine and component repair procedure.
- Work with the HR / Technical Trainer to provide the appropriate training to new technicians.
Operations
- Use the workflow procedure to repair a component or machine.
- Assist with capacity planning and repair flow monitoring in order to meet schedule requirements.
- Complete the proper paperwork for work orders and repair evaluations.
- Create a detailed recommended list of typical wear components for rebuilding a component or machine.
- Evaluate and assess critical or costly failures during a component or machine refurbishment.
- Execute the component/machine rebuild using the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Lead initiatives to improve the worksite.
- Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of tools and instruments.
- Responsible for preparing failure analysis reports for component and machine repairs.
- Accept ownership and accountability for the workshop and its equipment.
- Work with parts and repairs to identify warranty issues.
Competencies, skills, and experiences:
- At least eight years of experience as a workshop specialist.
- Have a driving license.
- Certification in TL1 is a prerequisite.
- Extensive hands-on experience with tools, equipment, and machinery, as well as the ability to diagnose and repair individual components or machines.
- A good understanding of networks and systems is necessary.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as a dedication to keeping the workplace safe.
- Prior knowledge and understanding of automation and digitization is essential.
- A thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems, as well as workshop tools and equipment.
- A thorough knowledge of the report and concise documentation of tasks accomplished.
- Understanding of workplace safety standards and the capacity to adopt safe work practices
- Computer literacy skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- In a workshop environment, the ability to identify and solve equipment and system faults is required.
