Australia Announces New PR Program (Subclass 192) | Australia Permanent Resident Visa Program 2024

In 2024, Australia will launch a new program for permanent residents. A new permanent residence visa under the Pacific Engagement Visa Program is available to citizens of participating Pacific island countries.

The Pacific Engagement Visa, or PEV, is set to be introduced by the Australian government. For citizens of Timor-Leste and the participating Pacific island nations, there is a new scheme for permanent resident visas.

The Pacific Engagement Visa Subclass 192 is scheduled for issuance in 2024. Up to 3,000 permanent positions will be made available to inhabitants of participating Pacific island nations, Timor-Leste, and their families each year. Furthermore, Australia has a permanent migration program in place. The PEV will expand Australia’s Pacific diaspora.

The Immigration Act, passed by the Australian government, permits a ballot to be held on October 19, 2023, to establish a new PEV. The ballot establishes equal opportunities for all qualified citizens of Pacific islands and Timor-Leste, regardless of their origin, gender, or skill set, to apply for Australian permanent visas.

Step-by-Step Simple Process of Getting the Australian PR Visa in 2024

1. Choose the right Visa Category

The first step is to identify the sort of visa that best suits your circumstances. Common pathways include family reunions, employer-sponsored, and skilled migration visas. 2024 will see changes to Australia’s immigration regulations, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest information offered by the Department of Home Affairs.

2. Check eligibility and points assessment

Determine your points and your eligibility for the chosen Visa type. Australia’s permanent residence program is point-based. Your age, work history, educational background, and language proficiency all affect your overall score. To maximize your chances of application acceptance, aim for the highest possible number of points.

If you are applying under the skilled migration category, you need to submit a skill evaluation and ensure that your professional experience and credentials match the requirements set out by the Australian government. Consult the appropriate evaluation authorities for guidance on how to properly finish this phase.

3. Language proficiency test

English proficiency is required under the Australian PR point system. Take an English language test, such as the IELTS or an equivalent, to demonstrate your language skills. A competitive score will boost your overall points.

4. Submit an Expression of Interest

Use the Skill Select online portal to submit an Expression of Interest. You must demonstrate your qualifications, experience, education, and work history at this critical step. If your application is accepted, you may then be asked to submit the necessary paperwork for a visa.

5. Health and character checks

You have to carefully gather all the required paperwork. This includes academic transcripts, employment referrals, proof of proficiency in the English language, and additional supporting documentation. Make sure each document is authentic and up to date. To bolster your already outstanding character, you must also obtain police clearance certificates and pass the necessary physical examination. This test is necessary to ensure that you meet Australia’s health and character requirements.

6. Lodge visa application and await decision

As soon as you receive an invitation to apply, submit your visa application. Keep an eye out for the application fees and ensure that all the information you submit is accurate and up to date, as discrepancies could make the process more challenging or take longer.

After completing your application, please wait for the Department of Home Affairs’ decision since processing times may differ. It’s a good idea to frequently monitor the status of your online application.

Australia Ends ‘GOLDEN VISA’ Under Sweeping Migration Reform

Australia scraps the Golden Visa as part of a comprehensive immigration reform. Significant changes have been made to its immigration laws, one of which being the temporary suspension of Australia’s Golden Visa program, also known as the Significant Investor Visa Program. The choice is a component of a program designed to address issues with investor visa abuse and their minimal economic advantages in addition to drawing in more highly trained immigrants.

This adjustment was made during a time of high immigration to Australia, with over 500,000 new residents arriving in the country in the fiscal year that ends in June 2023. One of the most divisive programs is the Significant Investor Program, which directed money primarily toward real estate or financial assets and did not significantly benefit productive sectors of the economy. Instead, it required an investment of more than 5 million Australian dollars to be eligible for a visa.

Claire O’Neal, Minister of Home Affairs, concentrated on creating a migration system that benefits Australia more. The central left labor administration presented a broader immigration strategy in December that includes a suspension to bring the number of immigrants down to pre-COVID levels. This strategy aims to close labor shortages by combating the misuse of student visas and focusing on skilled immigrants.

The Australian publication said that a full cancellation of the show was likely. Neil, though, has previously highlighted that the program had disadvantages because it catered to those nearing retirement and hence was more expensive than beneficial for Australia. Furthermore, a September 2022 study by the Australian think tank Gretton Institute discovered that while the Visa greatly harmed the economy in terms of services given to its holders, it produced nothing in the way of tax money.
