POSITION: Regional Business Manager – Chemicals

What are we searching for?
We are looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Regional Business Manager – Chemicals for our operations in Ghana. The perfect candidate will drive the commercial expansion of the Industrial Chemical Business Unit, create business strategies for emerging market sectors, and establish SOLEVO as the industry leader. This leadership position involves commercial framework, business growth, customer account management, and team mentoring. Reporting to upper management, the position collaborates closely with the Managing Director, Group Head of Industrial Chemicals, and various cross-functional teams.
What are our expectations for the candidate?
In the role of Regional Business Manager – Chemicals, the key duty is to devise and oversee effective commercial frameworks for the Industrial Chemicals Business Unit, promote sustainable value generation, and transform market presence into concrete business outcomes. The position requires extensive market knowledge, strategic implementation, and leadership in managing both customers and teams.
Main Duties:
- Establish and execute commercial strategies for industrial chemicals, identifying key segments and business prospects.
- Create a pipeline of prospects and formulate comprehensive business strategies for sustained regional achievement.
- Oversee and enhance the customer portfolio, focusing on major accounts and global clients; carry out frequent visits and provide technical assistance.
- Manage pricing, sales volume, accounts receivable, and inventory to meet business goals
- Track competitor actions and initiate measures to maintain competitive edge.
- Collaborate on supply, inventory, and S&OP activities with the production and supply chain teams.
- Strategize and predict sales, profit, and volume objectives across continuous and multi-year timelines.
- Implement a rigorous credit policy and management of receivables.
- Review P&L statements, customer financials, and competitor information to guide strategic choices.
- Guide, mentor, and inspire a top-performing sales team; establish operational goals and manage reporting procedures.
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Management, or a related field; an extra degree in Chemistry is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience in sales management, ideally within the chemicals or industrial sectors.
- Strong financial knowledge, encompassing profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow evaluation.
- Proven expertise in creating and managing sales teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of Ghana’s industrial and chemical markets.
Desirable Feature:
- Knowledge of international and domestic chemical industry participants.
- Proficient in overseeing international accounts and building cross-departmental teams.
- Expertise in negotiation, business development, and sales management.
- Proficiency in other languages (local dialects or French) is an advantage.
