POSITION: Cashier

Plato Consult is seeking a Cashier to join our team. Your Mission

You will take responsibility for error free cash register operations and payment processing. Your role includes receiving payments by cash and cheques from customers, issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change due, and ensuring sufficient cash remains in the drawer. Additionally, you will maintain correct cash balances, solve all cash related queries, keep a clean checkout area, communicate company policies, and produce regular transaction reports.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans payment processing, cash management, customer interaction, and reporting. Here is what you will tackle:

Payment Processing

You will receive payments by cash and cheques from customers, verifying amounts and detecting counterfeit currency.
Issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers promptly and accurately.

Cash Management

You will ensure there is sufficient cash in the cash drawer at the start of each shift, requesting change from the safe as needed.
Maintaining correct cash balances at the cash register, reconciling at the end of each shift.

Customer Interaction

You will solve all cash related queries, explaining charges or correcting errors when customers dispute amounts.
Communicating company policies and procedures to customers, such as return policies or payment methods.

Checkout Area

You will maintain a clean checkout area, keeping surfaces tidy and supplies stocked.

Reporting

You will make daily, weekly, and monthly transaction reports, summarizing sales, cash intake, card payments, and discrepancies.

What You Bring to the Role

Minimum Qualification

SHS or higher qualification provides your educational foundation.

Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating your ability to handle cash, operate registers, and balance drawers.
