Job Duties

- Support young people in developing essential life skills such as cooking, hygiene, and budgeting.
- Build positive relationships that encourage trust, engagement, and consistent participation in support programmes.
- Respond effectively to crises, challenging behaviour, and emotional distress incidents.
- Monitor and report changes in service user circumstances to relevant professionals promptly.
- Encourage participation in social, educational, and recreational activities to improve wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support delivery.
- Maintain accurate records while complying with organisational safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
Job Requirements
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care or related qualification required.
- At least one year of experience in care, residential support, or community-based services required.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, or challenging behaviour preferred.
- Strong communication skills for engaging effectively with young people, families, and professionals.
- Ability to work under pressure while managing complex and emotionally demanding situations effectively.
- Strong empathy and relationship-building skills to support vulnerable individuals appropriately.
- Ability to work independently, including visiting service users in community or home settings.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills to manage workloads and competing priorities efficiently.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and respond to urgent situations when required.
