POSITION: Geotechnical Engineer
Objective of the Role
The Mining Department of Damang Gold Mine is looking for a skilled and results-oriented person to take on the role of Geotechnical Engineer. This individual will be tasked with ensuring adherence to the company’s safety standards and aiding in the development and implementation of enhanced work practices to minimize injury risks and boost productivity.
Main Duties
- Guarantee prompt validation and analysis of geotechnical information by continuous data gathering and assessment, while keeping the geotechnical database and model current and maintained.
- Create, manage, and enhance the geotechnical monitoring systems for the site and establish the monitoring database.
- Perform stability evaluations of excavations and design assessments using kinematic, empirical, and numerical methods under the guidance of the Lead Geotechnical Engineer.
- Finalize monthly and on-demand reports concerning data collection, assessment, design, and oversight.
- Schedule the engagement of consultants for geotechnical design work. Oversee and coordinate geotechnical contractors at the site.
- Guarantee that the engineering team attains optimal practices regarding excavation management.
- Revise procedures and safety plans to recognize and create work practices and techniques that minimize injury risk, cut costs, and boost productivity. Featured jobs.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering from a reputable higher education institution.
- Geotechnical expertise in open-pit mining paired with a comprehensive understanding of ground stability utilizing SSR-FX slope monitoring systems.
- Must be capable of utilizing Rocscience tools (Dips, Swedge Software, Slide, and Slide 3D) for geotechnical assessments.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the geotechnical elements of open pit mining, preferably in hard rock operations.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and prioritization skills paired with the capacity to apply the acquired knowledge.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to connect with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. Job prospects.
