Mantrac Ghana LTD is seeking to employ a Health, Safety & Environment Officer.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensures all safety policies and practices align with Mantrac group’s safety vision and principles.
- Develops and implements the HSE Plan.
- Completes reports on incidents, risks, and safety performance.
- Develops, monitors, and continuously improves health, safety, and environmental procedures for all operations.
- Creates standard operating procedures (SOP) for all operations.
- Review safe working procedures as necessary.
- Maintains an up-to-date record of all health, safety, and environmental issues.
- Conducts periodic and spontaneous inspections of all work areas.
- Promotes awareness of health, safety, and environmental issues.
- Investigate and report all accidents and incidents.
- Ensures staff attend and complete all mandatory health and safety courses.
- Facilitates health and safety meetings and training courses for employees. Implementation of strategies to eliminate live work across all operations. Finalize HSE monthly reports
- Conduct monthly HSE and contamination control audit
- And any other assigned task
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A B.Sc. Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related qualification is required for candidates.
- Candidates holding a NEBOSH certificate or diploma will have an additional advantage.
- It is preferable for the candidate to be a member of a relevant professional body.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience following qualification in a Mining, Engineering, or construction organization
Knowledge
The candidate should possess expertise in:
- Ghanaian safety and environmental regulations and legislation
- Risk assessment and the methodology for conducting it.
- Investigations into accidents
- Interpretation of health, safety, and environmental statistics
- Management of hazardous substances
- HSE inductions and the organization and execution of HSE inductions
- Writing reports
Skills
- Strong technical HSE knowledge and expertise
- Exceptional communication abilities
- Proficient negotiation skills
- Determination
- Self-driven
- Competent IT skills
