POSITION: Senior Mechanical Supervisor

CNML is developing its core asset in Ghana’s Upper East Region with the strategic aim of creating a world-leading, highly lucrative, and responsible gold mining operation.

Job Description

  • Location: Cardinal Namdini Site in Bolgatanga, Upper East.
  • Section/Unit: Mechanical
  • Department: Engineering
  • Reports to: Superintendent, Mechanical.
  • Direct Reports: Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, Rubber liner Technicians

Job Purpose

To monitor and coordinate the work done by Process Plant Mechanical Technicians to guarantee that production plans are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere strictly to Namdini Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards, as well as other relevant corporate regulations in the workplace, and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with maintenance workers on a daily basis to ensure that maintenance work is completed safely and according to the schedule. Providing clear direction and expectations for safety, repair quality, and turnaround times.
  • Ensure that mechanical regulatory and statutory requirements are met in a timely way.
  • Supervise and ensure that mechanical equipment and installations on site are erected and tested in line with rules and kept in safe operating order.
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of unplanned (break-in) work, as well as the rescheduling of activities as needed.
  • Oversee all parts requisitioning, disposal of unwanted components, and classification of reclaimable and reusable parts for repairs.
  • Prioritizing and assigning tasks, as well as giving appropriate guidance, help, and direction to all employees and contractors.
  • Oversee the servicing, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment and components; conduct safety and technical inspections.
  • Continuously review service records and paperwork for parts, work in progress, temporary repair registry, work backlog, and maintenance records.
  • Promote work management process discipline among team members and conduct regular system compliance reviews to assure adherence. Contribute to the creation of Standard Task Procedures (STPs/SOPs).
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor in accordance with the needs of the company.

Required Skill or Experience

Minimum Qualification(s)

  • HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • The Minerals Commission Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competency is required.
  • Being a member of the Ghana Institute of Engineering will be advantageous.
  • Valid Ghanaian driver’s license (Class BE/CE would be advantageous).
  • First Aid at Work Certificate

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a mining process plant or equivalent setting, including at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • Understanding of maintenance principles and industry norms.
  • Understanding of the workflow management process.
  • Basic knowledge of tower and mobile crane operation.

Knowledge (in-depth)

  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer literacy abilities (SAP, MS Word, Outlook, and other Windows apps).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, inspect bearing tolerances, and use precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to perform lazier alignment on all equipment and analyze results.
  • Ability to submit job requests and complete work orders.
  • Knowledge of gyratory, pump, and cone crusher maintenance.
