We are searching for a competent Business Development Specialist – Senior to join our sales-focused Power Generation Sales Department in Accra, Ghana.
Responsibilities
In this capacity, you will have an impact in the following ways.
- Identify New possibilities: By prospecting and identifying specific local business possibilities and target accounts, you can propel growth in your designated market, segment, or geography.
- Collaborate Effectively. You’ll collaborate closely with Marketing, the Business Development Manager, and the Sales Manager to identify lucrative market segments, lines of business, or product lines to pursue.
- Analyze Market Data: Collecting and evaluating publically accessible information and data from Marketing/Market Research can help identify and prioritize market and product segment opportunities.
- Understand the market. Attending industry and client events will improve your understanding of the market, allowing you to better identify prospective accounts and their needs.
- Develop Relationships: By building and sustaining business connections with assigned potential accounts, you will be able to discover customers’ perceived needs and objectives, as well as help them recognize the benefits of Cummins solutions.
- Support Sales Strategy: Your efforts in generating and implementing new business ideas, as well as ensuring effective hand-offs to Account Managers, will be consistent with and support the overall sales strategy.
- Communicate Insights: Informing the Business Development Manager about new client needs and market trends will assist shape future business development endeavors.
- Mentor and Develop: By coaching, inspiring, and developing less experienced sales and account team members, you’ll help build a stronger, more capable team.
Responsibilities
To succeed in this role, you will require the following:
- Strong Analytical Skills: You’ll be required to undertake extensive market research and analysis, connect the dots to uncover patterns, and summarize insights that affect the organization. This includes leveraging relevant sources and data to broaden your market expertise.
- Effective Relationship Management: It is critical to establish and maintain great relationships with prospective and existing clients. This promotes repeat business, consumer loyalty, and the creation of new business prospects.
- Strategic Sales Planning: Creating and implementing sales strategies to meet business goals such as revenue growth, market share expansion, and customer happiness is critical. You should also ensure that you have a solid plan in place to meet your sales targets.
- Networking and Industry Engagement: Actively participating in industry events, networking activities, and traveling to different areas to meet distributors and consumers will allow you to broaden your professional network and keep current with industry trends.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Significant postgraduate experience in Africa.
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineer; bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in both French and English, allowing for good communication with stakeholders in French-speaking African nations.
- Extensive experience in Power Generation Sales
