POSITION: Project Manager – Community Foundation
Company Profile
PureTrust Foundation (PTF) is a national Ghanaian non-profit organization that supports integrated development and community foundations. PTF collaborates to enhance economic stability and social inclusion for Ghana’s poor. In addition to its focus areas in livelihood enhancement, advocacy, education, and other social sector projects, PTF has led the national programme Developing Community Foundations in Ghana since 2020, which is supported by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. PTF is headquartered in Tamale, with field offices in Daboya and Bole in the Savannah region.
Job Description
- The position is based in Tamale, Northern Region, but requires frequent travel around Ghana.
- Report to the CEO.
- Contract Term: Three (3) years from November 15th, 2024 through December 2027, subject to an annual renewal cycle.
- Associates include Community Foundation (CF) coordinators, staff, CF board members, local and international project partners, and Associates, among others.
The Objective of the Position
The goal of this function is to lead and ensure effective coordination, organizational growth, capacity strengthening, and monitoring of Ghana’s traditional Community Foundation roles, which include promoting community philanthropy, fund development, and community grant-making.
Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities
- Shall coordinate and lead the implementation of the national strategy to increase the number of Community Foundations in Ghana, utilizing suitable channels and ways to pique community members’ interest in establishing Community Foundations in their particular communities.
- Will collaborate with leaders of community foundations to increase the sustainability of existing community foundations.
- Shall guarantee that community foundations are properly administered and follow excellent corporate governance practices.
- Shall guarantee that community foundations operate and meet national law requirements.
- To maintain their own character, Community Foundations will be encouraged to institutionalize fund development, endowment building, and grant-making functions.
- Encourage the creation of a national movement on community foundations in Ghana.
- Shall collaborate with the project team to increase funds from other sources.
- Must create and submit timely reports and regular updates.
Required Skill or Experience
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in a suitable discipline (such as non-profit administration, business, or social work)
- Advanced degrees are preferred (e.g., Master of Nonprofit Management, MBA).
- Minimum Work Experience: 3–5 years of organizational development and leadership experience in the non-profit, philanthropic, community foundation, or corporate sectors. Previous experience working in a community foundation is an added benefit.
- Proven track record of success in leadership positions.

- Experience in organizational governance and board development.
- Experience in technology and data management.
- Adaptability and resilience.
- Ability to work well in groups.
- Ability to train others and create training curricula and tools.
- Ability to produce and submit project reports on schedule and with accuracy.
- Ability to initiate and complete an activity independently with minimal supervision.
Language requirement
In addition to English, the Project Manager should be able to speak TWI and have average speaking ability in any of the northern Ghanaian languages. It should be noted that, other than English, the desire to converse in any other local language is not a must.
